Re: A brief note about Hebrews 13.11-13
The author of Hebrews appears to have studied the works of Philo, and has read Lev 16:27 in the LXX about suffering/dying outside the camp. There is no need to assume anything further.

Re: A brief note about Hebrews 13.11-13
Here are Harold Attridge's remarks on these verses (w/footnotes) in case anyone's interested. 13:11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.(NRSV) The verse describes the tabernacle ritual with w...

Re: Is There a Trial of Jesus in Luke?
Some of the elements missing from Luke's trial scene show up later in Stephan's trial in Acts. E.g. "crown" (stephanos) of thorns → Stephanos Is it possible that Luke-Acts is written entirely chiastically, like Matthew? And that the trial of Jesus corresponds to the trial of Stephanos chi...

Re: Josephus' TF the source for Tacitus' reference to Jesus?
There is an allegation/assertion that this text was not named " Annals ", however, until 1544, by Beatus Rhenanus. http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=170187.25;wap2 and ... Rev. Taylor ... suspected the 15.44 passage to be a forgery because it too is not quoted by any of the Chr...

Re: The Oldest Reference to Christians in Egypt = Chrestiano
Nag Hammadi Codex VIII, I (Zostrianos) has Χρηστος at line 131, 14 as a nomina sacra. The editor of the Brill volume doesn't think this is "Christ" and translates this as "the kind (Χρηστος) Father has sent you the savior," but doesn't explain why the ordinary adjective "kin...

Re: a rather unusual book
Oh, it's from 1879? We can completely dismiss it, then.
