If you keep saying it loud enough, maybe it will come true.

Re: Metacrock is still apologizing...
The Gospels are not from witnesses. We have no writings from witnesses. The authorship traditions of the Gospels are 2nd Century attributions to originally anonymous, untitled, unprovenanced books which were written (at the earliest) 40-70 years after the crucifixion. The authors were not disciples...

Re: Metacrock is still apologizing...
Unfortunately every scrap of ancient evidence on the subject contradicts these claims. You know this, of course, which is why you try to claim authority to discard data. This us, erm, brave of you. I suggest you think much more sceptically about whatever it is you are reading. All the best, Roger P...

Re: Metacrock is still apologizing...
Unfortunately every scrap of ancient evidence on the subject contradicts these claims. What ancient evidence? Eusebius? Papias? Bad guesses made by people who were in no position to actually know anything. Papias' descriptions do not even come close to matching the books early fathers wanted to bel...

Re: Historical Jesus and Historical Tank Man: A Similitude?
You have failed to meet your burden. You are confused about who has the burden. Anyone who thinks they can assign specific authorship to anonymous works with no provenance has the burden of proof. The Gospels themselves do not claim to be disciples or witnesses or to have known any disciples or wit...

Re: Romans released bodies of the crucified?
They didn't "keep" the bodies. The usual practice was to leave them on the cross or bury them in the pits. They did not turn bodies over to family members. The denial of a proper burial was part of the punishment. Bodies were sometimes crucified after they were already dead. It wasn't jus...

Re: Historical Jesus and Historical Tank Man: A Similitude?
We have a great deal of evidence that the gospels are highly fictive. No, we don't. Yes we do. Are you sure you really want to go down this road? Have you ever been exposed to basic NT scholarship before? What we have are people hundreds of years after the fact arrogantly placing themselves in posi...

Re: Historical Jesus and Historical Tank Man: A Similitude?
We have a great deal of evidence that the gospels are highly fictive. You're also completely wrong about how historical method works, You never just assume a historical claim is accurate absent any corroboration. It doesn't work that way. The burden of proof lies with anyone who wants to assert the ...
