Re: Was James the 'brother of the Demiurge'?

Note that the people of Nazaret are the only people, in all the Gospel of Mark, who rejected Jesus even if ( or, more probably, just because ) they have the absolute certainty that the Jesus met by them is Jewish of origin. Whereas the scribes and pharisees hated Jesus as basically not- Jewish in al...

Re: Was James the 'brother of the Demiurge'?

So, to say that Jesus is ''from Nazareth'', is an explicit confession that Jesus came from the Gnostic sect of the Nazarenes, who rejected the entire OT and hated the same creator, the god of the Jews.

Re: Was James the 'brother of the Demiurge'?

An alternative: the people of Nazareth stand for the Gnostic Nazarenes. They reject a Jesus considered Son of YHWH (for them, the mere 'carpenter' or 'inferior demiurge') and of the gnostic Sophia ("Mary"). By so doing, they reject the names of the 'Brothers of YHWH' (friends of God): Jame...

Was James the 'brother of the Demiurge'?

Mark 6:3 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James , and Joses , and of Juda , and Simon ? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. Jesus is identified with the same attributes by which a famous Messianist was identified (by the same kew-words: 'J...

Re: Did Mark neutralize the marcionite nature of the anointing of Bethany?

Jesus himself had ordained: “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor , and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” So there would be a contradiction with the waste of perfume for Jesus. This points to the marcionite nature of the following passage: 17 As Jesus started on h...

Re: Which evidence is there that Marcion expected the Parousia after the coming of the Jewish Christ?

Jerome, Against Rufinus [3.31] ...just as that famed Barchochebas, the instigator of the Jewish uprising, kept fanning a lighted blade of straw in his mouth with puffs of breath so as to give the impression that he was spewing out flames . Matthew 3:11 : 11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. ...

Re: "him who judges justly" is allegory of the demiurge: Pilate

And I doubt very strongly that Marcion rejected YHWH completely. His theology is too connected to Judaism to outright exile YHWH. Well. So, at the end, your interpretation is not so 'radical' how you promised. Your exegesis of the Gospels will differ not so much from the traditional. For example, y...

Re: Did Mark neutralize the marcionite nature of the anointing of Bethany?

So the Simon the Leper allegorizes Marcion himself, as he is Simon Magus (a type per se of the Gnostics). Not coincidentially, just he is made become the rebuker of the woman for a question of money, in later Gospels.

Did Mark neutralize the marcionite nature of the anointing of Bethany?

Mark 14 :1-9 14 Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him. 2 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.” 3 While he was in Bethany, recli...

Which evidence is there that Marcion expected the Parousia after the coming of the Jewish Christ?

I would be curious about this evidence (if it is there really, because a valid alternative is that this world will be forever ruled by the demiurge, for Marcion). Since this may give a dating of the Gospel of Marcion after the Bar Kochba's Revolt, being just him, Bar Kochba, the True Jewish Messiah ...
