Re: Galatians 1.11-12: subjective or objective genitive?
Isn't it Jesus who is "revealed" (by God) in Rom. 16:25-27? "...in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the comma...

Re: Didache chapter 9 the Eucharist
Just to add my Dead Sea Scrolls-centered two cents, in addition to concepts like a singular Messiah, the Way, the New Covenant in a place called Damascus, seeing God's salvation (yeshua) and the inclusion of gentiles (nilvim) in the Damascus Document, Eisenman argues that a wordplay pertaining to th...

Re: Grateful Dead
Here's an interesting article about the tapers section. Officially approved for noncommercial recording by the Grateful Dead since the early 1980s, tapers are a subculture within a subculture — spreaders of audio sacrament among a famously evangelical following. While the band never matched the reco...

Re: Genesis (the band) and Peter Gabriel
BTW, I think it's an interesting tidbit that Tony Iommi, the Black Sabbath guitarist, was briefly in Jethro Tull (and is seen here miming with them at the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus in 1968): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXInbfGwhNQ http://bravewords.com/news/ian-anderson-on-tony-iommis-...

Re: Genesis (the band) and Peter Gabriel
DCH, Of all the "prog rock" bands I've heard, I do like Jethro Tull (at least from 1968 to 1972). I could use a little less flute, but I like the album Stand Up a lot, for example, and the singles Living in the Past and Teacher are cool. Now I feel like a little Tull. https://www.youtube.c...

Re: Grateful Dead
I've had a love/hate relationship with the above 1974 show with the beautiful Jack Straw (or at least with its recording). Yes, it has some technical issues that are due to the Wall of Sound they were using that year, but I don't mind that (and the WOS is a part of what makes that year so special). ...

Re: Grateful Dead
It's the Fourth of July and now I have the quintessential Grateful Dead song Jack Straw in my head (which references the holiday). It's always been one of my favorites, both musically and lyrically, and this version (track 8) is the most beautiful I've ever heard. https://archive.org/details/gd74-06...

Re: Genesis (the band) and Peter Gabriel
Not me, but I've done some Genesis research. They are one of those bands that I first heard as a kid in the '80's (like Yes) and didn't know that they had a 60's and 70's incarnation until I got older. One thing I've learned in my later years is that I don't care for "prog rock" in general...

Re: Grateful Dead
I just saw this review of the last Grateful Dead shows in Chicago by someone else who was there (I was there for the very last show on Sunday). At some point during the weekend, everybody started calling the band “the Grateful Dead.” I never saw Jerry Garcia in the flesh, but I’ve been attending Dea...

Re: The Origins of Christianity
To get back to the Damascus Document, in addition to the other similarities that have been pointed out (expectation of a singular Messiah, the Way, the New Covenant in a place called Damascus, the Last Days, etc.), it quotes several OT verses in a messianic context that are also mentioned in the NT....
