Re: Christian scribal practices indicate single common source
LC, above, in part: "If we accept the received tradition wouldn't this have been one or more of the bishops?" SG: But you don't accept the received tradition! And even if you did, did all obey this unspecified bishop or group of bishops? And was strict scribal practice an early and unifyin...

Re: Lemche Review of Adler
Notice that Niels [not Nils, a typo in the above post] Peter Lemche in that review misstated the very title of the book that he was reviewing in Scandinavian Journal of the Old Testament, where he is Editor-in-Chief. The real title is Origins of Judaism: An Archaeological-Historical Reappraisal but ...

Do you consider any of these autographs?
If yes, can autographs mislead?

Re: Proposition: There are Three Major Classes of Christian Literature
Processes of canonization involve including and excluding works. Some excluded works are called apocrypha, written both before and after various canonization stages. In some of the Christian cases (plural) such processes happened in stages, with some acceptances of decisions shared or not shared by ...

Re: Most Manuscripts are not Primary Sources
LC, I disagree, again, but instead of pursuing that now, perhaps let me ask you a question:
Can you give several examples of ancient manuscripts that you regard as extremely-reliable "primary sources"?

Re: HAramaic: the Hebrew and Aramaic roots in the New Testament
I wrote that it is possible that some (small?) NT portions--but most certainly not all--were written in a Semitic language. Not saying it is proven. LC seems to favor (historical) suppression of other texts, but not in this case? What would the above writers--whether or not they were all misinformed...

Re: Christian scribal practices indicate single common source
Which is more probable about the *individual* letters of Paul:
a) that they were scrolls
or
b) that they were bound codices?
[This question is about the time before such letters were collected in codex-form.]

Re: Was the New Testament Originally Written in Aramaic?
It is a fair question whether *portions* of the NT were first written in Aramaic (or in Hebrew).
But the *whole* NT? Not really.
For example, the Epistle to Philemon, mentioned above, would most probably originally have been written in Greek.
