Re: Three different reasons to kill Jesus (if you are one of the 'Rulers of this Age')

What is the reference for this Marcionite exegesis of the similar words in the Marcionite gospel? I will need to see the text you are drawing from before commenting further. I am sorry, but it is too much evident that Marcion interpreted in that way the 'recognition' by demons. Do you know what the...

Re: Three different reasons to kill Jesus (if you are one of the 'Rulers of this Age')

I have no idea what you are talking about, as usual. The demons literally recognize Jesus as the son of the "most high God" in, for example, Mark 5.7. If you assume that the 'most high God' is the god of the Jews, then you have all the reasons of this world. My point is only that, accordi...

Re: Three different reasons to kill Jesus (if you are one of the 'Rulers of this Age')

the gospels definitely support A. Only if we admit that the Earliest Gospel assumed that Jesus was the Son of YHWH , because otherwise even the demons don't recognize that Jesus is the son of a higher god (as per GMarcion). At any rate, the criterion by me used to classify the possible options in A...

Re: Three different reasons to kill Jesus (if you are one of the 'Rulers of this Age')

. He was doing miracles, so had some sort of other worldly origin, but not necessarily with good intentions. my point is that the earliest evidence doesn't assume that the demons killed Jesus because they saw someone who was doing miracles. They killed him because a very weak (=without miracles) um...

Re: Three different reasons to kill Jesus (if you are one of the 'Rulers of this Age')

I agree that there is nothing about Jerusalem or other Gospel items in there. I mean that the earlier version is the version where Jesus is killed by demons without the description of the particular reason the demons kill him (other than his being alien in their world). So this version: 13. ... whe...

Re: Jesus has brothers for the same reason he is also Nazarene

Mark 1:9 originally read: "And it happened in those days, that Jesus the Nazarene came from Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan." So, if my hypothesis is correct, Jesus was "separated" (meaning of 'Nazarene' in this point) from the his family even before he was posse...

From Gen 49:16? I don't know. Surely Joseph was seen as a type of Jesus.

Re: Jesus has brothers for the same reason he is also Nazarene

I think "Nararet" was substituted for "Nazarene" by a redactor. it is curious this shift from Nazarene to Nazaret. I think that the reason is that 'Nazarene' implied an implicit separation and conflict between Jesus and the his family (just as between Joseph and the his brothers...

Jesus has brothers for the same reason he is also Nazarene

Matthew 2:23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene . Genesis 49:26 : The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of my parents, up to the bounties of the everlasting hills. May they be...

Re: Three different reasons to kill Jesus (if you are one of the 'Rulers of this Age')

In the hymn to Philippians, the emptying of Jesus requires that he didn't exploits to provoke the demons before the his death. Anything he has to do is to empty himself. Also only a miracle during the descending in the sublunar world would break the climax. So, again: hypothesis A : possibly only Pa...
