The Gospel according to Thomas contains numerous gnostic references, corrupted in a Judaizing manner. Apologistic scholars (historians) like Goodacre fail to see that, as opposed to critical scholars like Jean Magne.

No, this does not describe Marcionism anywhere near closely. Marcion saw in the serpent of Genesis some supernatural evil. Which is late development, not pre-Christian gnosis, which saw the serpent as the Saviour.

The early Paul is a billowing cloud of venomous gas; it appears sweet to naive scholars (historians) but chokes all possible progress. Critical scholars know that the mythos must be derived from the logical order of dogmata and rites, not from the accidental chronological order of surviving records.
