Actually, the opposite was true as they were the intelligentsia.
The first to be killed and persecuted by all religions who use inquisitions and jihads.
The good Christians is how they were known, because they walked their talk and had enough moral sense to condemn their evil god to hell.
It is the genocidal, homophobic and misogynous god lovers who decided, as today, that freedom of though should not be allowed.
That is what stupid supernatural belief does.
Who deserved the slur?
The murderers or the murdered?
We good Christians know.
Gnosis is derived from a agnostic and know. A compliment, not a slur, till Christians started calling evil, --- good.
It was the best religion before that supernatural mental drop, as Chrestianity.

they quickly became known as “know-it-alls,” what we would now deem “dunning-kruger syndrome”Gnostic Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 3:27 pmActually, the opposite was true as they were the intelligentsia.

I have not heard that.
In fact, we try hard to only talk of what can be known.
Compare that to Christians who always hide behind their supernatural, shield because they cannot argue for their poor morals.
