Algis Uždavinys, PHILOSOPHY AS A RITE OF REBIRTH (Excerpt)

Has anyone read Philosophy as a Rite of Rebirth: From Ancient Egypt to Neoplatonism [2008]? I'm 40pp in and astounded ... its like a parallel history to what I was raised with, regarding philosophy's origins. Is it an alternative textbook?
The Matheson Trust offers a teaser book excerpt of 165pp. Goodreads reviews are admittedly low-brow, but the peanut gallery seems to love this book. The author died quite young, Age 48 or so. To me, he reads like the Terrence McKenna of Neoplatonism, I'm not sure what the academy thinks... he is only mentioned about six times on jstor.

Before his untimely death in 2011, Algis Uzdavinys was a Lithuanian meteorite who fired through a number of studies on Iamblichean theurgy and its comparison to ancient Egyptian religion. His most notable: Philosophy as a Rite of Rebirth (Wiltshire, UK: The Prometheus Trust, 2008), and Philosophy & Theurgy in Late Antiquity (San Rafael, CA: Sophia Perennis, 2010).
