Quick Latin Translation Summary Please; Simon Boethus?

Post by yakovzutolmai »

I have been investigating whether Boethus derives from Beit Honi, and began with a simple search of "Bethonius". It returned this 17th century work, and as far as I can tell the paragraph is mentioning Maria and (her son) James in Galilee, with Simon Cantheras and something about a former legionary. On the other hand, I could certainly be seeing what's not there. Was wondering if there were any Latin pros who could verify the subject matter.

Bethonius is "Archiep", which is High Priest, right?

EDIT: Okay, it was used for Archbishop. Shows my ignorance. This is just a coincidental Jacob and Mary which are names that obviously appear frequently within Christian culture.
