Zoroaster

Post by ghost »

Zoroaster looks a lot like Mohammed. White head cover, black beard, white robe, sandals; kneels when praying. Even the half moon is there. It would not surprise me if the Mohammed descriptions come from there. It would also not surprise me if that's why Muslims don't want Mohammed depicted: because it would show maybe Mohammed is partly based on Zoroaster.

On top of that, among Zoroaster's first converts to Zoroastrianism was supposedly Zoroaster's wife. A similar thing supposedly happened to Mohammed: first convert to Islam/Mohammedanism was supposedly Mohammed's wife.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroaster#Life
His wife, children and a cousin named Maidhyoimangha were his first converts after his illumination from Ahura Mazda at age 30.
The cousin is called "Maidhyomangha". Sounds a bit like "Mohammed". Might be just a coincidence, but worth checking.

In addition, Mohammed's ascension to heaven to meet Allah is similar to Viraf's ascension to heaven to meet Ahura Mazda.

Another parallel: under the Zoroastrian Sassanids there was a set of laws called "dad" where non-Zoroastrians were second-class. That's similar to Muslim laws (sharia), where non-Muslims are second-class (dhimmitude).

Zoroastrians have five daily prayers. Like Muslims.

Dr Shabbir wrote:01. Requirements of prayers: Islam enjoins its followers to pray 5 times a day and is called by the Muezzin to his prayers. These prayers are at i) Dawn ii) Noon iii) Afternoon iv) Sunset v) Night.

Zoroastrianism also enjoins prayers 5 times a day called "Geh". The devotee is summoned by the ringing of a bell in the AtashBehram / Agiary. These prayers are also at the same time as in Islam and their respective names are:

Time: Islamic/ Zorastrianism
Dawn: Fajar/ Havaan
Noon: Zohar/ Rapithwan
Afternoon: Asr/ Uziren
Evening: Mazreem or Maghrib/ Aiwisuthrem
Night time: Isha or Ishan/ Ushaen.
THE FIVE RITUAL ZOROASTRIAN PRAYERS
The five prayers were developed AFTER the Prophet Zoroaster.
See below some quotes on the ritual prayer ceremony:
From the book J.J. Modi: The Religious Ceremonies and Customs of the Parsees. (Bombay, 1922.) Part 3.

Every Zoroastrian is expected to recite the kusti prayers (naujote) at least five times a day having first cleansed himself, or herself, by washing
Strict Zoroastrianism forbids intermarriage. Somewhat similar to Islam.

The king of kings Ardashir I is said to have selected the canon of the Zoroastrian religious texts Avesta and Zand from a set of canons presented by a priest called Tansar. King Sapur I is said to have later selected other texts to add to the Avesta. The texts were said to be based on Ahura Mazda's revelations to Zoroaster.

This is similar to how the Koran is said to have been revealed to Mohammed by Allah and canonized by Uthman/Osman.

Is this intended as irony, or is this actually a kind of serious elaboration?

"Zoroaster looks a lot like Mohammed"...... Seriously. If anything, depictions made up by how someone is imagined to be, must be understood in the context depictions are developed. Depictions of dark/black hair should not be surprising, as the entire region is populated with people sharing such traits.

"Another parallel: under the Zoroastrian Sassanids there was a set of laws called "dad" where non-Zoroastrians were second-class."..............The heathens of their day I guess. Christianity and other religions does not share such set of rules with a second-class social status for heathens. Or... wait a minute... wonder where I got the concept of being a heathen from? ;)

Ardashir who was given the title king of kings, or "shahanshah" to relate it to its origin with the Persian Achaemenid Empire. Where you have according to the bible, the Messiah or Christ if you will. Namely Cyrus, king of kings, worshiping Marduk/AhuraMazda that is the lord of lords - God of gods.
Or as in Daniel 2:37, where the dream of Nebuchadnezzar is interpreted as such:
"Thou, O king, [art] a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory."

To continue reasoning according to same set of assumptions, just to see where it leads us. I would say the book of Revelation from the KJV presents some intriguing thoughts.

Revelation 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

So... the savior Christianity awaits is Zoroaster? Who is Muhammad in disguise? Who descends from David... as the previous Messiah, the Persian king of kings, Cyrus the great. Given the title of Cyrus the Christ in the bible, as they worshiped the king of kings who was sent by the one true lord, the lord of lords. Marduk.
