Tertullian (de praesc. haer. XXXII 3-5 and XXXIII 11 and de virg. vel. 6 1, etc, in Klijn and Reinink, Patristic Evidence for Jewish-Christian Sects, 1973, 106-111) supposed that ebionites were founded by an eponymous person Ebion (or Hebion).
But he was mistaken, in case that is worth noting here.
