Arcana Fomularies

Identities, archives, lore, and prosoprographical knowledge and practices were incorporated esoterically into Christian literature of the learned initiates of Christian doctrine.

Identities Legend

Jameses

James son of Alphaeus also called James the Less

James the Less was the biological son of Alphaeus and his first wife, Mary [History of Joseph the Carpenter]. Alphaeus was the son of Clopas. Clopas was the brother of Joseph the Carpenter. James the Less was the great nephew of Joseph the Carpenter.
Joseph and the Virgin Mary became foster/redeemer parents of James the Less and his brother Judas when Alphaeus was widowed [History of Joseph the Carpenter]. Joseph enrolled James with Mary and kin in Bethlehem. James the Less was the brother of Jesus son of Joseph — The James Ossuary.

After six years according to Hebrew lore [Deut. 15.12] James and Judas were returned to Alphaeus who had married Mary, 'the other Mary', the Virgin Mary's younger sister.

James son of Zebedee

James was the biological son of Zebedee and Mary. Zebedee is modified into Theudas, Greek for Zebedee. Both Zebedee and Theudas define as gift of God. The bishop of Jerusalem is accounted as the biological son of Theudas and Mary, in the Apocalypse of James.

Marys

Mary of Alphaeus
Mary, the first wife of Alphaeus, was the biological mother of James and Judas sons of Alphaeus. She and Mary wife of Zebedee were co-milk mothers of James son of Alphaeus and John son of Zebedee. She died when James son of Alphaeus and John were infants.

Mary of Zebedee
Mary the wife of Zebedee was the biological mother of John and James, the sons of Zebedee. She and Mary of Alphaeus were co-milk mothers of John son of Zebedee and James son of Alphaeus. She and the Virgin Mary were the co-milk mothers of Jesus the ascribed son of Joseph and James the son of Zebedee.

Virgin Mary
Mary was the firstborn daughter of Joachim and Anna. She was the biological mother of Jesus Christ, her only child. She and Mary of Zebedee were co-milk mothers of Jesus ascribed son of Joseph and James son of Zebedee. She was the step mother of Justus/Joseph, Simeon, James, Judas/Joses, Assia and Lydia,[The History of Joseph the Carpenter].

Mary of Clopas
Mary was the second born daughter of Joachim and Anna. She was called 'the other Mary'. She married Alphaeus the son of Clopas and was ascribed the name 'Mary of Clopas'. She was the step mother of James and Judas the sons of Alphaeus.

Participatory exploration of the Christian congeries below will provide continuity and acuity for the affirmation of the above identities and their relationships. Just follow the legend of the identities above to demystify the arcana of the intended indistinct identities that the original writers set, especially those of the Jameses and Marys.

You wrote this in 2018. Is this still your interpretation of the Jameses and Marys?

James the Less Bibliography Effecting Identities.

James the Less is archived in The History of Joseph the Carpenter and the Gospel of Mark.
Descriptors for James the Less of James the lesser/little/minor/younger, etc, were not documented in primary Christian sect records; and neither in juxtaposition did James son of Zebedee have the descriptors of James the great/greater/tall/more/elder, etc, in the primary Christian sect records.

The History of Joseph the Carpenter:

‹And when Mary found James the Less in his father's house, broken-hearted and sad on account of the loss of his mother, she brought him up.‹ So there remained in Joseph's house Judas, and James the Less, and the virgin mother. The elder brothers, Justus and Simon were married and had families of their own.›

James the Less and his brother Judas are recorded as children.

The First Infancy Gospel of Jesus Christ:

‹James and Joses had taken away the infant the Lord Jesus to play at a proper season with other children.›
The text links James and Joses as brothers and siblings of Jesus, and all three are children.

The Virgin Mariam is step-mother of brothers James the Less and Judas also named Joses, during their childhood.

Joseph, the foster father of Judas, had reason to add the name of Joses to him, given Joses is a derivative of his name Joseph.

The Preaching of Thaddeus:
‹This is the Preaching of the blessed Jude, brother of the Lord, who is Thaddeus, which he proclaimed in Syria and the island. [The island is a geographical term for Mesopotamia.]›

The Apocryphal and Legendary Life of Jesus Christ:
‹Now Thaddaeus, who is also called Judas and Lebbaeus, was the brother of the Lord according to the flesh, and had received the baptism of John.›

Hegesippus:
‹Of the family of the Lord there were still living the grandchildren of Jude, who is said to have been the Lord's brother according to the flesh.›

Clement of Alexandria:
‹Jude, who wrote the Catholic Epistle, the brother of the sons of Joseph, and very religious, while knowing the near relationship of the Lord, yet did not say that he himself was His brother. But what said he? 'Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ,'—of Him as Lord; but 'the brother of James.' For this is true; he was His brother, (the son) of Joseph.›

Apostolic Constitutions:
‹And I Lebbæus, surnamed Thaddæus, make this constitution...›

Epistle of Jude:
‹Jude the servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James...›

The Apostle Jude also named Thaddeus and Labbeus and also named Judas/Joses, is the brother of James the Less.

Mark 15.40:
‹There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome.›

Maria is step-mother of brothers James the Less and Judas also named Joses, during their adulthood.

Clement of Alexandria:
But there were two Jameses: one called the Just, who was thrown from the pinnacle of the temple and was beaten to death with a club by a fuller, and another who was beheaded.›

James son of Zebedee and James son of Alphaeus were the two Jameses.

Apostolic Constitutions:
‹And I James, the son of Alphæus, make a constitution..›

James the Less is James the son of Alphaeus and so James and Judas are sons of Alphaeus.

Luke 6:16:
‹And Judas of James..› becomes ‹And Judas the brother of James›. Incorrect in literature is: 'Judas the son of James.'

John 19:25
‹And there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary the Magdalene›
Mary of Cleopas is an indistinct identity. Mary is not depicted as daughter in law of Clopas for instance, to intentionally make the kinfolk connections opaque, using caution that was necessary to protect Christian hierarchy from hostile opposition.

Mary of Cleopas is recognized as Maria the wife of Alphaeus.

Therewith Joseph and the Virgin Mariam brought up James the Less and Judas named Joses, until her sister Maria and Alphaeus were able to raise James the Less and Judas named Joses.
Joseph indentured James the Less and Judas as foster sons with Mariam and after six years Hebrew law enabled them to be unified with their father Alphaeus and their step-mother Maria.

Those are all fictional persons; so identification is pointless.

Clement of Alexandria:
But there were two Jameses: one called the Just, who was thrown from the pinnacle of the temple and was beaten to death with a club by a fuller, and another who was beheaded.›

James son of Zebedee and James son of Alphaeus were the two Jameses.

James son of Zebedee was the one called the Just and James son of Alphaeus was the one who was beheaded.

James son of Zebedee is identified through iconography, in which he carries the staff of the bishop, of which has attached the seashell, emblem of the tribe of Zebulun, his imprimatur; and in the Apocalypse books under his name — of note Yeshua particularizing his not being to the full extent a brother, but a milk-kin brother, their equivalent nurturing illustrative in the facial resemblance of their icons.

James son of Alphaeus is identified through his relics being found by Serrulla's forensic reconstruction† to have been killed by sword, combined with Syriac editions of The Assumption of the Virgin, in which by deduction is found him termed: James the brother of John — of whom was 'killed by sword' [ Acts 12.2]. † https://aleteia.org/2021/10/25/two-jame ... ompostela/

‹"The time is near for the mother of your Lord to leave this world ; but rise, go to her to Bethlehem." To Simon (Peter) It made this known in Rome ; and to Paul at Tiberias ; and to Thomas in India ; and to Matthew at Berytus (Beirut) ; and to Bartholomew in Armenia ; and to Thaddeus at Laodicea ; and to James in the cave of Zion. But Andrew, the brother of Simon, and James, the brother of John, and Philip, and Simon the Canaanite, and Matthew (Matthias), who became an apostle in the place of Judas Iscariot, these five were dead.›

After James son of Alphaeus, termed James the brother of John was beheaded in A.D.44, conceivably because as the eldest living brother of Jesus he was birthright leader of the Christian sect, Judas son of Alphaeus was subject to the same threat as perceived leader of the Christians, now that he was the eldest brother of Jesus, and birthright leader of the Christian sect.

For protection of kinfolk, names and ties had to be opaque and merged, to confound those adversaries in their immediate vicinity, and in Christian literature it was necessary to be circumspect with the publication of identities.

Apostolic Constitutions:
‹And I James, the son of Alphaeus, make a constitution..›

James the Less is James the son of Alphaeus and so James and Judas are sons of Alphaeus.

The Assumption of the Virgin, Narrative of Joseph of Arimathaea:

‹All the disciples except Thomas now arrived on clouds and greeted her. They were John, James his brother, Peter, Paul, Andrew, Philip, Luke, Barnabas, Bartholomew, Matthew, Matthias surnamed Justus, Simon the Canaanite, Jude and his brother, Nicodemis, Maximianus.›

John and James sons of Zebedee, Peter, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Matthias, Simon, Jude and his brother — and Thomas who came later, are of the Twelve.
Joseph of Arimathaea lists Jude as the brother of the unnamed apostle of the Twelve, —James son of Alphaeus— by way of deduction.

Judas also named Lebbæus and Thaddæus, is the brother of James of Alphaeus.

Joseph indentured James the Less and Judas as foster sons with Mariam and after six years Hebrew law enabled them to be unified with their father Alphaeus and their stepmother Maria.

James the Less and James son of Alphaeus are the same person.
James the Less and Judas sons of Joseph the Carpenter are also in biblical literature James and Judas sons of Alphaeus.
Mariam the Virgin mother was their foster-mother and Maria her sister was their stepmother.
