In a Gnostic text from Nagh Hammadi, the answer of Jesus to archontes questioning his identity doesn't leave a minimal shadow of doubt:

"I have come from the force of the man for the destruction of your work."

Hardly the same certainty is derived from Jesus's answer to Pilate:

“Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate.
“You have said so,” Jesus replied

If the consensus is right about the Gnostic text (above) being based on a gospel and not the contrary (the gospel being based on such Gnostic text), then it is based on a proto-gospel where the Jesus's answer had shown an identical certainty just as the Jesus of the Gnostic text.

“Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate.
I have said so,” Jesus replied.
