Eisler on Luther as the first who called Barabbas a "murderer"

Eisler points out something that is worth noting: this Bar-Abbas was introduced only by Luther until fifteen centuries later, as a murderer. Matthew mentions 'a notorious prisoner' and the Fourth Gospel says that Barabbas was a robber.
But "Mark" (author) doesn't say that. What he says is:
During the riot, the insurgents committed murders, but neither Jesus called Christ nor Jesus Bar-Abbas got their hands dirty.
I can understand the need to exculpate Jesus, but why Barabbas too?

A certain Barabbas was just a prisoner among the rioters; they had committed murder in the riot.'
