The fox is not Herod

Post by Giuseppe »

At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.”

32 He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’

(Luke 13:31-32)

The fox was an insult addressed to an enemy of the Jesus of Marcion, since it is implicit the idea that the news about the miracles of Jesus are disturbing, just as they were disturbing for the Baptist in Mcn.

So possibly the fox figured in the original answer of Jesus to the curiosity of the Baptist about him.
