"Jesus our Passover": was "Jesus" a mere liturgy before Paul?

Discussion about the New Testament, apocrypha, gnostics, church fathers, Christian origins, historical Jesus or otherwise, etc.

"Jesus our Passover": was "Jesus" a mere liturgy before Paul?

Post by Giuseppe »

In 1 Corinthians 15:7 Jesus is called "our Passover" (πάσχα ἡμῶν).

Someone has proposed that the liturgy itself was what became "Jesus" in the eyes of Paul.

The evolution would be:
Liturgy ---> Jesus as Lamb (immolated during the liturgy) ---> Jesus as new Joshua ---> the Gospel Jesus.

Jesus as lamb already proves that the last supper as Paschal meal is a late forgery, alien to the extinct root of the synoptics. (whose existence is denied by right-wing extremist terrorists). For Jesus needs to be immolated on prep day, not the day after, in order to be the lamb. This has already been realized by Jean Magne, who recognized correctly that the original placement of the cena was with Simon's in Bethany, the day before prep day, and that it ended with the promise to drink the cup again with the disciples in the kingdom come. There was especially no bread involved, for the liturgical bread was already instituted in the feeding miracles, as denied by naive scholars . The Judaizing addition of the cup to the liturgy was profoundly inconsequential and hypocritical, necessitated by the Jewish tradition involving too much wine.

Re: book by Jean Magne

Out of print, and not on Googlebooks, as far as I can tell, but it is in the best of research libraries:

it is available freely here.

At any case, I had in mind another author.
