I have ordered this book. It appears that his mythicist author, Jean Pain, was helped by the same Paul-Louis Couchoud to refine better his basic thesis, hence the quality is guaranteed.

When I read references to Pain in other mythicist books, I believed wrongly that there was a print error: "Pain" in the place of" Paine", thinking so to Thomas Paine, himself a mythicist.

Also not to be confused with Painchaud (hot bread), the famous expert for gnostic myth and NT. Jungian synchronicity strikes again when I think about the etiology of the eucharistial bread...

Charles Guignebert despised strongly Jean Pain. Which makes the latter even more interesting.

Guignebert died when that Jean pai was a little child, so it is hardly the same person.

no, there are no doubts that Guignebert meant just him, in his insult (see the article on jstor).

So Guignebert:

The argument is very powerful, that Jesus/Joshua was identified with the Angel DESTRUCTOR sent by YHWH to kill the Egyptians. Now it is explained definitely why the same Angel is both a Lamb and a celestial Warrior in the Book of Revelation.

The book of Jean Pain must to be soon digitalized to reach the largest audience.
