MASKWACIS, Alberta (AP) — Pope Francis issued a historic apology Monday for the Catholic Church’s cooperation with Canada’s “catastrophic” policy of Indigenous residential schools, saying the forced assimilation of Native peoples into Christian society destroyed their cultures, severed families and marginalized generations...“I humbly beg forgiveness for the evil committed by so many Christians against the Indigenous peoples,” Francis said.
News flash to Pope Francis*--- Blame shifting is not an apology at all. Blaming Christians for what the Catholic church did to Native Americans is not only an insult to Christ but re-abuse of the actual victims.
Well, the Catholic Church has no monopoly, among Christian denominations, upon evil deeds done against Native Americans. Consider, for example, that the residential schools in Canada were run also by Anglican and Methodist churches.
