Archaeologists excavating a Roman-era ruin in the ancient city of Amastris in Turkey have recently made the curious discovery of a talismanic amulet seal. The pyramid-shaped Egyptian amulet has hieroglyphic characters and ancient Egyptian symbols etched on it, which have provided an element of mystery and suspense surrounding the find.
I wonder about the date and identification w/ the god Bes. I see smthg different, in this recent find, and wonder if it is Judaic c.200 BC (or more likely, copying an image from that period):
Princeton Museum, Greek, Gnostic gem. Black haematite, 4.1 x 2.3 cm. Museum purchase (y1942-58):
I am curious about this janus-faced god with two- or three sets of wings.
Isaiah 6:2: Above Him stood seraphim, each having six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their {genitals}, and with two they were flying.
