1 Kings 8:27
"But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
2 Chronicles 6:18
"But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
Theophany (from Ancient Greek (ἡ) θεοφάνεια theophaneia, meaning "appearance of a god") refers to the appearance of a deity to a human or other being.
the verses i have quoted above from the jewish bible seem to be going against the idea of theophany. is this correct?
the belief seems to be that the created cannot contain god.

But what is man? God bothering, or squeezing the gods into this mortal coil, is I understand it the purpose of religion. Ideas about how to do this and can it be done have changed over time. Examples include Newgrange, the Eucharist and phosphorous burning.
"We cannot slaughter each other out of the human impasse"
