1 Kings 6:32
He carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees -
קלע עליהם מקלעות כרובים ותמרות
We have the word "carve" alongside the verbal noun "carvings" in the KJV translating from the Hebrew root, קלע (H7049) homonymous of a word meaning Sling.
Strong's H7049 - to sling, to throw with stones with a sling
(1)
γλύφω—קלע 'to carve, cut out with a knife
γλύμμα—מקלעה 'engraved figure, Glyph
(2)
σφενδονίζω = σφενδονάω—קלע 'use the sling
Sling , Old Norse slyngja, slyngva
The Arabic for slingshot is مقلاع (miqlae)
The English and Norse are written with an L alike the ל in קלע
that are absent in the Latin and Greek.
The Latin word is funda, perhaps from אבן "stone".
σφενδόνη; II.the stone or bullet of the sling, Xen.; τοιαύταις σφ., of hailstones.
Judges 20:16 קלע באבן/σφενδονῆται βάλλοντες λίθους"
"Sling stones".
Slings and Glyphs
Re: Slings and Glyphs
Proverbs 26:8 אבן ב מרגמה / λίθον ἐν σφενδόνῃ
a stone in a sling
The word מרגמה is produced from ἀραγμός, the initial מ because the verb end in -μος/-μα since מרגמה roots to רגמ without the מ hence αραγειν or αρασσω.
αραγμος - ἀ. πετρῶν crashing shower of stones
a stone in a sling

Euripides, Phoenissae 1140
To begin with, we fought with bows and thonged javelins, with slings that shoot from far and crashing stones
καὶ πρῶτα μὲν τόξοισι καὶ μεσαγκύλοις
ἐμαρνάμεσθα σφενδόναις θ᾽ ἑκηβόλοις
πετρῶν τ᾽ ἀραγμοῖς: ὡς δ᾽ ἐνικῶμεν μάχῃ

The word ἀραγμοῖς is identical too the word מרגמה. In Proverbs 26:8
