Jesus, nephew of Moses?

Post by Ethan »

Many people, including Aisha, understood Mary and Miriam to be the same person, based on their understanding of the Qur'anic text. Skeptical Jewish and Christian scholars at the time believed Muhammad had mistook Jesus' mother for Moses' sister. While they share a common name, they lived more than a thousand years apart.

If this be true, then Moses would have lived in the 1st century BCE and this is further evident with the name Mary/Mariam, a common name in 1st century CE/BCE and not 13th century BCE.

Mariamne I (died 29 BCE), also called Mariamne the Hasmonean, was a Hasmonean princess and the second wife of Herod the Great.

Luke 1:5 — There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

Luk 1:36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth

Elisabeth (Ἐλισάβετ)
Elisheba (אלישבע) (Ελισαβεθ), the wife of Aaron (Exodus 6:23)

How is it known that Elisabeth who lived in 1st century CE is of the daughters of a man who supposedly lived in the 13th century BCE?
