Stop the Steal/QANON as an apocalyptic movement

Post by FollowerOfMessiah »

The parallels are obvious. Amongst disgruntled alt-righters and Trump supporters, many now believe that the 2020 US Election was fake, and Trump never lost, but was supposed to return to power in August. While people have made the connection before of QANON and apocalyptism (especially Gnostic apocalyptism with the dualistic emphasis on light and dark, the corruption of the material world, the knowledge open only to a secret few), I've wondered about the Stop the Steal movement viewing Trump as a messiah figure who died (figuratively) and rose again, perhaps even closer to the Shi'a concept of the Hidden Imam in occultation. Currently the alt-right and even many conservatives seem to have been sucked into this mentality and are rudderless, looking for some direction and a new leader (hence the recent fascination with Ron DeSantis and Viktor Orban, as potential replacements for Trump who was "Crucified" by the deep state/China/Dominion Machines).

Absolutely.

There was a time when a prophecy was made of some political action occurring. Nothing happened except for a minor earthquake off the coast of Africa. This was interpreted as a covert submarine battle between factions. They also have secret wars in space, and covert actions that get reported in the headlines as something else (gas leak, resignations). They have fully embraced the secret war in another realm concept, even literally believing that angels and demons are fighting and interacting with the secret military factions. So there are also spheres and layers to the invisible war.

The problem with Qanon is they have a lousy set of potential messiahs. I think the advanced age of many Qanon movement people will lead to Trump being replaced as the messiah figure rather than him being euhemerized later. It's unclear whether the newer generation is as committed to movement anyway.

Qanon believers tend to come from a very eschatologically oriented Christian environment which is still colored by Cold War tropes. I don't know if the system will last.

For a while, there was a belief that JFK Jr. had faked his death and was the secret leader of the movement with Trump as the figurehead. His public reappearance would usher in the new order.
