Ebionitism is post-catholicism
Ebionitism is post-catholicism
It is totally a modern invention the idea that ebionitism has to be placed after the historical Jesus and before the pre-existent Christ.

Provocative! If ebionism evolved after the idea of a pre-existent Christ, what caused the movement from a divine-like Christ to a belief in a non-divine man? Usually the movement is the other way around.
From Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebionites ... e_Nazarene
The Church Fathers agree that some or all of the Ebionites rejected many of the precepts central to proto-orthodox Christianity, such as Jesus' divinity, pre-existence, virgin birth and substitutionary atonement.[8] The Ebionites are described as emphasizing the humanity of Jesus as the biological son of Mary and Joseph, who, by virtue of his righteousness in keeping the law perfectly, was adopted as the son of God to fulfill the Jewish scriptures.

Simple: the divine-like Christ was increasingly perceived as a threat to pure Jewish monotheism.GakuseiDon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 1:40 pmwhat caused the movement from a divine-like Christ to a belief in a non-divine man?
