Google Translate does Ancient Greek

Post by Secret Alias »

1 In the beginning was speech, and speech was to god, and speech was god.

2 Then he was in the beginning before God.

3 All things were made through him, and without him not one thing was made. what happened

4 in it was life, and the life was the light of men;

5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it.

6 A man was born, sent by God, whose name was John;

7 Then he came as a testimony, to testify about the light, so that all might believe through him.

8 He was not the light, but to testify about the light.

in the beginning was speech, and speech was to god, and speech was god. so he was in the beginning before God. everything was made through him, and without him not one was made. what was happening in it was life, and life was the light of men, and light shines in darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it. There was a man sent from God, his name was John; therefore he came as a testimony, to testify about the light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but to testify about the light.

I tried a few of these, and currently I like ChatGPT for translation the most.

Does the program favor classics Greek over "Biblical" Greek in its translation?

I don't know, but it seems competent in koine Greek. I haven't tried classical.

That's not quite what I meant. Normally when some koine Greek words are offered as English translations various options include Classical Greek usage and so called "Biblical Greek". How does the program distinguish between the two if at all?
