There seems to be an assumption, possibly from biology, that there is a last common ancestor Christ, we argue here is it "mythical" or "historical".

But what if we are using unconsciously the wrong biological model?

It is now accepted there was - and is - a huge bacterial world where horizontal gene transfer is the reality. Mix and match.

So why not for example ask how many different Christs are there in the New Testament? What are their common points and differences?

And instead of attempting to ask how do they track back to a historical Jesus or a Cosmic Christ, ask what bits are they made from? Which part bins were used to put together particular Christs? The Land Rover Discovery Christ, the Ford Christ, the Emperor Christ?

I'd say there are probably 3-4+

• a Pauline 1 or 2+ - authentic-Paulines' Christ (or two); and inauthentic-Paulines' Christs (1-2+)
• a Synoptic 1 or 2 (Mathew/Mark/Lukes; and John's +/- Revelations')
• Others - Hebrews; etc
  • - The General Epistles' Christs

I thought more! One each for the evangelists (although, how many does John have?) plus at least one each for all the other books!

And we haven't started on the non canonical ones!

Possibly/Probably; though I'd say Matthew Mark & Luke may use one; and if Revelations is written by whoever wrote John, one there two.

There could be more than 2 on the Paulines; then all the other books .... +++++

Yes, good point - they probably reflect a widespread trend for writers to write about their own personal Christ/Angel

The numbers were pretty well contained in the early period.

But I think the number of different Christ's (and Christianities) went through the roof after Nicaea (and has never looked back)

I think there are pre-Christian Christs.
