The Chronicle of Zuqnin (c 750 CE)

Post by Secret Alias »

[starting with Jesus] In the year two thousand and fifteen from Abraham, and for Alexander the Macedonian, the year three hundred and nine: Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, was born in Bethlehem of Judah, a beautiful place of blessings. And in that year, Quirinius was sent from the desire of Caesar to govern over Judah. And he conducted a census of the people and the land. Counting the years from Abraham until the birth of the Messiah, two thousand and sixteen years.

Concerning the revelation of the Magi and their coming to Jerusalem, and concerning the offerings brought to the Messiah, the fullness of their revelation and the visions that the kings of the great East saw, who are called Magi in the language of that place. Because in silence, without a sound, they were praising and praying. And in silence and with understanding, they were praising and praying to the supreme and holy Lord, the living God, the holy and praised Father, who is clothed in great glory and honor. He is higher and holier than all the thoughts of men, and no human tongue can describe Him as He truly is. But as they desired and according to their desire, and by the hand of the One who desires, they are not able to grasp His highness or His supremacy to speak of His greatness. But they wished and desired that His greatness be revealed to the world, so that they might receive from the gift of His greatness. Because it is great and cannot be fully expressed by speech. Thus they were those wise men who were called Magi in the language of the region. Because in silence, without a sound, they praised God Almighty, who by His word and His will, all things came into existence and all that was and all that is to be. Nothing existed outside of His will, and there is none who can stand against the will of the Father of all.

The names of the wise men and kings who were thus called: Zaharondad, son of Artaban; Hormizd, son of Santrum; Ushtezp, son of Gudpar; Arshak, son of Mehrum; Zarnud, son of Dodod; Arayho, son of Kasro; Artaxerxes, son of Huwilt; Eshtanbozan, son of Shishron; Mehrum, son of Homam; Ahasuerus, son of Tzchban Nasardikh, son of Baldan; Marduk, son of Bil. These were the kings, sons of kings from the eastern lands, who dwelled in the land of Sheer. This place was the creation of all the East of the world inhabited by humans, to the great ocean from beyond the world, from the East of the earth Nod. This was where the great Adam, the head of all the tribes of the world, settled. And these sons of kings received commands and laws. And they also received writings from their fathers. Each generation received from the previous one, from Seth, the son of our father Adam. Because it was revealed to Adam to Seth, his son, when he was given it. And Adam examined Seth concerning his greatness in the beginning until he would not pass over the command. And concerning his exit from paradise, Adam warned Seth, his son, not to pass over even that in the likeness of Adam's nature. And Seth accepted his father's command with a pure heart. And he increased in peace, even with the gift of the world's Lord of greatness. And it was given to Seth to be inscribed in a book and to know wisdom, and to read in the name of the Lord, the Master of all who seeks life. And from him, initially, the book was revealed to the world, inscribed in the name of the world. And Seth completed the book, inscribed for his generations. And he mourned until Noah, who was also found to be in that nature. And he was saved even from the waters. [And in the time of the flood, Noah took] those books of commands with him [in the ark. And when] he came out of the ark, he also commanded Noah concerning the generations that came after him, that they should teach them their multitudes and the hidden secrets inscribed in those books by Seth. Concerning the greatness of the Father and all the secrets.

And these books and secrets were mourned and he filled them with completion. Even until the fathers. And he learned and received with joy, and completed them for us, our own. And we also kept them in love and in the fear of their secrets, their books, and secrets, and words, and in silence they prayed. And they gave thanks and praised. When they knelt and raised their hands to the height of heaven to the Lord of greatness, who is hard for the eyes of all living. And those hidden books were kept in the mountain of victory, in its eastern side, the place of Sheer. In the cave of treasures and hidden secrets of life. And the fathers also commanded us, just as they received from their fathers. And they said to us, "Let the light shine for you from the east, the great light of the Father's greatness, the light that shines from above like a star on the mountain of victory. And he resided on the pillar of light in the cave of treasures and hidden secrets." And they also commanded you to your sons, and your sons to their sons until your generations would see the star's secret that shines from the greatness above. A light like a star. And he shone for all creation and diminished the light of the sun and the moon and the stars. And none of them appear or find themselves able to stand before his light. It is the secret of the Son of the greatness above. There is a voice of the Father, the Son of his thinking of the council, the light of the praise of his glory, the icon of the likeness of his hiddenness. The word gave birth to all that is imagined. The fountain of life that does not cease from his spring. The word of the daughter of all like the desire of his mission. An icon that has no form and likeness in all those that stand. This one, by his power and his word, set and established all the worlds. The Son is the merciful, perfect one. He is the shining light.

Praise of the Father of greatness that is indescribable... You know that when this light shines upon you from that greatness which has no equal. And it will appear to you in the likeness of a star as you see it. Carefully and with joy and love and completeness: when you offer pure sacrifices from his own, which are kept in the cave of treasures from your fathers, of hidden secrets in the mountain of victory. Go where his light of the star scatters for you. And you will see great peace and wonder. God when he appears in this form of the son of man. And when he is poor and needy and humble and weak and sickly. Even the sign of the cross is seen upon him; you will go before him in love and joy. When you take upon yourselves your offerings, and you will worship before him, the one born in power and humility and slain. And you will offer him your sacrifices. And you will receive from him the blessing of life. And you will share with him in the joy of the blood that was given in his hidden praise and in his complete divinity. And in his abundance that does not pass away. And in his new world in his light that... and in the perfect life that he gives to all of you also. Be alert and command your children. And if the light of the star does not appear in your days, even your children will tell their children. Until the mysteries and secrets written on his coming are fulfilled. And we have received the laws and commandments from our fathers; even we teach all these secrets. And they will shine for our children, that in your days his coming of the star's light will be great. As we received and learned from our fathers. And they will ascend to the mountain of victory. And when we are all gathered: each person from their place to the foot of the mountain. They will stand in one place: in purity.

On the twenty-fifth day of each month, and they stood at the eye that was in the valleys of the mountain. And this eye is called "Pure". And seven trees stood over it: Pine, Cedar, Cypress, Sycamore, Citron, Fir, and Willow. And the mountain was all splendid and beautiful from all the mountains around that were not extinguished. And from it emitted the fragrance of all perfumes. And the dew of the head was upon it. A fragrant aroma. And what was the first of the month. They ascended and went to the top of the mountain. And they stood before its entrance to the cave of hidden treasures. And they knelt on their knees and stretched out their hands to heaven. And they prayed and worshipped in silence without a sound. To the Father of the highest greatness. Who is not filled and not satiated until eternity. Three times a month they ascended to the cave upon the treasures of the sacrifices of its star. And for the worship of the light that they revered. And whatever they read and heard from [the revelations] that were revealed to them, they descended with joy. They said and taught their sons and daughters. And everyone who gave themselves in love to learn was taught with joy. And those who did not desire to learn and distanced themselves from understanding. [Because they saw their simplicity] they were praying in silence: and in honor, they were saying to them And regarding his praise. Because he saw [it] in the Garden of Eden, when it descended and dwelled upon those who were alive. And he hurried to everything [until Adam did not transgress] the commandment of the Father of the highest greatness. And when he transgressed the commandment that was set for him, the vision of his star departed from him. And because of his expulsion from paradise, Adam mourned over the foolishness that removed him from his greatness. And he greatly warned his son Seth. And he taught him to walk in patience to find mercy before the Father of greatness. And he said to him: My son, you will be from the land and the world, and from my children. And you will carry my foolishness. And you will be like the dead, one by one. When you make peace with me and say: Every kingdom divided against itself shall not stand. This is the peace that divided my kingdom and stood against it: And I, in the hands of his works, am from me, my son. The curse that separated from me: it was healing and a wound to my eyes. Even I prophesied when I saw it and said: This time is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. And this time it shall be called woman, because it was a trial for me. My son, be careful of him, with the words of your mouth, and do not reveal to him all the mysteries of your heart. Because he is precious [merciful] for honor and praise. He made for me a helper. Because he loved [me] like a beloved son. And if you work for him

Until I was expelled from the paradise of my kingdom. And I was not established [in honor]. But even in my heart, I was troubled by the king of falsehood who gave me: a cup of bitterness from the words of the serpent. And I was not established in my former state [when I was not there]. And when I was in that honor, I was there: and in my dominion over all the world. And in my love for the holy watchers. And in all my life within the paradise. And greater than all things are his mercies and the preciousness of the holy one. Who loved me and set a ban upon me like a precious father. And when I transgressed in my rebellion against his commandment. Not like a lord who seizes a wife to punish her: but like a precious father. Who mixed his mercy with his severity. But like my foolishness that was to punish me. Like [breath that ceases] was to me. And like I was not, it was done to me. And who can stand before him and say to him what have you done. But he guided me with mercy. And not like my foolishness to punish me. For I have seen, my son, all creation that lives under my dominion as before. And he [considers evil] in his anger, the will to humble me and to cleanse from under my dominion. His intention was in his many mercies, the precious holy one. He set it under my feet to tread upon it. When he set upon me the fear, that I would no longer be heard by the king. And like a judgment in his severity. He closed his mouth with falsehood. And filled his words with dust. And broke his feet that they would not lead him astray. When he separated him from all the life of created beings, his brother. And all these things, my son, disturbed me. And I was humbled from my greatness. Because of all these evils. If you were a serpent to me, it would have been a trial. But you, my son, be careful of his kingdom and do not listen to him, his brother. But love and honor the Lord of life. The precious holy one. And he will rejoice and have mercy upon you. And they will be from your daughters and the children of men, praised and honored, and speakers of the mysteries of greatness. And they will find abundant mercies. And they will pray and plead and be heard. And... of greatness. And at other times, those who are masters will be again... and they will not fear because of my ignorance and the judgment that was upon me: but they will find mercy and speak blasphemy until the highest greatness. And they will say many things. And they will also make images and engravings. And even for the sun and the moon, they will serve. And they will speak blasphemous words. And all these things they will do because they are enticed by falsehood. Because of the mercy of his falsehood and the enticement of the word of the lady. They will approach each one from the land they come from. And they will kneel and be drawn in praise of abundant wealth. And of deceit and of clothing and of canopies and of prostitution and of immorality and of oppression and of abuse and of canopies of different kinds. And like a beloved and compassionate one, they will appear to them. And they will draw them in. And in song too, and in play. And in various dances and lewdness. That they have for them the suggestion of their visions. And in pleasures too, of varied kinds, they will draw them in with the love of his falsehood, which is not good. Just as even a hunter by the word of falsehood captures prey. And takes his burden. For nothing good and honorable belongs to you, I am your king. For the blood you have eaten from those commanded not to consume it. You have become to him like your god [in precious things].. And I have not been established for woe in honor; that he might find for me a king of falsehood. And he does not find that I would be clay like his vessel. And he does not work like his lord. But I know his many mercies, of the greatness of precious things. That they are revealed to me in the secret of the days. And he delivered me from the noose. And he raised me from destruction. As he raised me when I was not. And he rejoiced over me and desired me in my downfall. He is ready to deliver me in precious things and precious mercy to support me and have mercy on me in his mercies. And that he might descend into the darkness with his light shining upon me. And he might enlighten my eyes. As he did for me from the beginning. And he breathed into my nostrils the spirit and I rested. But you, create good for my boundary and strengthen me: even if I am far from you. That you might find mercy before him. For he does not require from you your sins. Because of his preciousness. But like his ignorance, it required from me. It was not fruit that you produced. Even your offering was accepted from Abel your brother. Even not a just thing he did, for his blood was from the hands of his brother who killed him. But I am amazed at his many mercies from whom he loved. And he delivers him before him in patience. Even for those who stumble before him, he gives them a place for repentance. And he prepares for them if they repent and plead from him. Because his mercies are many upon his world. And he heard everything that Adam his father commanded him. His many commands. And he wrote them carefully. And we found them in the books that were placed in the cave of hidden treasures. And he commanded and added upon them. And his heart was pure. That it might not be heard for consuming evil. And he praised and called upon the name of the God of highest creation. And he commanded even now for his sons, for them these mysteries. And they were read every month that they ascended to the mountain. And they ascended in love to the cave of hidden treasures. And we were also taught, and we taught our sons and our daughters. For then was the time and peace of everything written in the books. Because of the revelation of the light of the hidden star. Even we were established for him in our days and they came and received him with joy as they were instructed by their fathers. And as we read in the books, each one of us saw wondrous and remarkable visions [that we had not seen before. Rather, their secrets] in these books we read, they were. And people came, each one from their land, like a feast of old: to ascend to the mountain of victories with a pure eye, to rejoice as we were accustomed. And we saw... in the form of a pillar of light that is not utterable. That descended and ascended from among them... to dwell. And we feared and were amazed when we saw it. And the star of light above it, that is unutterable to speak about its light. For its light was greater than that of the sun in many ways. And the sun could not stand before the light of its rays. And like the moon seen in the days of Nisan by day, when the sun descends [and is swallowed] by its light, so was the sun seen to us. When the star rested upon it. And it was ours. And to the sons of hidden mysteries appeared the light of the star that was greater than that of the sun. When the star rested upon it. And it was ours. And to the sons of hidden mysteries appeared the light of the star that was greater than that of the sun. And to no other person was it seen. Because they were far from its mysteries and from its assembly. And we rejoiced and praised and gave thanks that it was unutterable. To the Father of the highest greatness, that it was seen in our days and made it worthy to be seen by us. And when we stood with a pure eye with joy. And we ascended to the mountain of victories as we were accustomed. And we ascended and found that pillar of light before the cave. And great fear again dwelt upon us. And on our knees, we knelt and stretched out our hands like a feast of old. And in silence, we praised the vision of its wonders. And we saw again that the heavens opened like a great gate. And men of praise, when they took hold of the star of light with their hands. And they descended and stood upon the pillar of light.

And the mountain was filled with its light that is not spoken by the mouth of men. And a small human hand approached us from it, which was like a pillar bright to the eyes, but we could not find any defect in it. [And we feared]. And we saw its star which ascended to the cave of hidden treasures: and the cave was illuminated with an unextinguishable light. And we heard a gentle and pleasant voice that called to us and said: "Enter in, without fear of the beloved." And see the great and wondrous vision. And we were amazed and feared at the voice's word. And we entered as we trembled, and knelt on our knees at the cave's entrance because of its abundant light. And when we stood at his word, we lifted our eyes and saw that unutterable light. And when it gathered itself, it appeared to us in the form of a small and humble man, and he said to us: "Peace to you, sons of hidden mysteries." And again, he amazed us with the vision. And he said to us: "Do not be divided in the vision you have seen, for that light has appeared to you that is unutterable. The voice of the hidden Father of the highest greatness. And it appeared to you again gathering its light in its splendor. And it appeared to you in the form of a small, humble, and weak man. Because it is not permissible for the world to see the glory of the Father's only Son, unless he appeared to them in the form of their world. And other signs are prepared to be seen in it, that are hidden and are reserved for the highest greatness: for the salvation of their lives. Because the Father loved them so that they would not perish in the errors they were led into. And I also fulfilled the love of the Father. And until the death of the cross: for their lives, so that they might ascend to me in love and in undivided peace. If they believe in me without division. And they will give thanks and praise with their hands to the Father of the highest greatness who sent me.

For their salvation, and I loved them so that they would not perish in the errors that they were led into. And because I was shown to them in the peace of all times, they have no escape by spirit for their ignorance, but they are good and believe in me. And you, whatever you received from your fathers, also everything you learned from the mysteries of the books you read, do everything that is told to you. For these are the hidden mysteries of the light of the star, for you were worthy to see it. This is its essence revealed to you about itself, so that you may listen and believe without division. For you saw me in the multitude of forms. And again, with you is the treasure placed in this cave for your fathers, and they were strengthened with joy. And they worshiped him... born like a man. And they worshiped me again there, even now that I am speaking with you, there I am also. Because I was supported by the hands of angels, there as well, and in the greatness of my Father, I am also there. And in every place, I am there, because I am the reflection of light. That its light might descend into this world from the greatness of my Father. Who sent me to fulfill everything that was spoken about me in all the world. And in every place [in the mysteries] that are not spoken, to fulfill the commandment of my Father, the praise that was proclaimed about me by the prophets to the house of the murmurers. So also for you, that it may be revealed to you as it is fitting for your faith. And I ascend with you, and I will be a guide for you in every way that you go in. When you see the glorious signs and the mighty victories in all the earth. And the peace of all the mysteries in Jerusalem you will see again, and all that has been spoken with you will be left for you. You will again see the signs of righteousness, even though in a small and weak manner. For even people were troubled over me, and they chose to do something considered evil. They will not find rest. But whatever they do will be for their killing and their end. His Father's will be fulfilled because of the salvation of their lives in all the world. And when he spoke to us all these things with many others, we did not dare to say these things: because of the abundance of his wealth. We all left the cave: while we rejoiced and were glad. These all were the mysteries of his greatness that were not spoken of, were revealed to us and spoken with us. And we took all the treasure that was placed in the cave when the letters were sealed within it. And we descended from the mountain while praising the mysteries revealed by the light of the star that was seen. Each one of us stood on the visions and the revelations seen by him in the cave of hidden treasures. And their visions were not alike one another, and all the visions seen by us had many forms. Some of us said, "I saw the light in which were many wondrous forms." And some said, "I saw an infant that had forms that were not spoken of." And some said, "I saw a strong man who has no form in this world." And some said, "I saw a man who is pure and humble in his vision and conduct." And some said, "I saw a cross and a man of light crucified on it." When he bore the sins of the whole world. And some said, "I saw that he descended to Sheol in power." And all the dead rose and worshiped him. And some said, "I saw him ascend."

In praise, he opened the graves and raised the dead. When they cried out and said, "Holy is our King, and holy is His dwelling among us." Because of his love, He took on human form to save us. And it is said, "I saw when he ascended to the highest heaven, and the angels opened the gates of heaven before him, and the clouds and [angels] lifted him on the palms of their hands. And the Holy Spirit, when it took the crown and the wreath, all the powers for the honor of his majesty, she earned for herself all the honor of those who are lost and dead."

And when all these things and their like and many of them were praising him, they were delighted one by one as they descended from the mountain of victory. Over all that they saw and heard there, they were filled with great joy and gladness. For they desired to see this entire gift of life. For all the kings, and the righteous, and the prophets, and the mighty ones prayed, hoped, and waited to see this vision, but did not see it. Because the time of the appearance of the star of light had not yet come. He gave eternal life to those who believed in him.

And when they praised him, even with a low voice, again with great light, with beauty that cannot be described, he came to the heavens. From the highest height of greatness, he said to us, "Everything you have seen, heard, and spoken, and it was told to you, and here you are amazed. It is a single drop of life from the house of greatness. There is no man who can comprehend all the mysteries of unity. But only from what proceeds from the thought of the hiddenness of the Father. And no man knows the Father except the voice that brings forth the word of life. He revealed the depth of the hidden thought of the Father. In Him, there is
until eternity.

And by Him, through the voice and the word, the high and the low realms of the Father of greatness were established and ordered. And the angels, powers, chiefs, and rulers, even these that are established in Him, and the height and the depth, and the length and the breadth. And there is nothing else that exists except by the will of the Father of greatness. Or that exists except by the voice of life. He is the beloved son, the messenger of merciful kindness. He is the hidden image of the Father to his beloved. As it is proper for them to receive strength from the gift of the Son. He is the one who searches over the new and perfect worlds. For those who believe and have faith in him. He is the interpreter of mysteries and hidden secrets. He is the image and likeness of the Father of greatness, which at all times is heard from him. He is the only son, fulfilling the will of his Father completely. He is not just loved and honored because he is worthy, for he loves the world and the darkness and chaos more than himself. He took on human form for their salvation, so they would not perish. He clothed himself with the body and likeness of a perfect man. In him, he conquered death and took authority over it, to give them eternal life. For those who love him and believe in him. In his name, there will be signs and wonders by the hands of those who believe in him. He is the complete son, fulfilling the will of his sender. He is the way and door of light for those who enter through him. He exists in everything. Over all things, he rules and speaks. He is the bread of life, descending from heaven for the believers, to be the seed of the word of life, and they become the pasture of truth. He gave himself as salvation instead of their souls. He became the great priest, offering his blood for the world. He is the drink of the cup of life. He is what you see, in many forms that appeared to you.

Even from the essence of his glory, no one is equal to him. Indeed, his greatness cannot be described in words. But I, and I alone, am one who exists in endless praise. When all these countless things are glorified with us because of him, we saw his revelations. He is the star that guides us in all things, as we found him to be. And as weak humans, we said of him, not understanding that we were speaking about something we had seen. We were delighted in all his dwelling, in offerings and pure sacrifices. These, which came from the cave of the hidden treasures of the cedars, were present in him from the beginning for our ancestors. We went out with great joy when we received the message to go to the place appointed for us to worship him, to see the star of light that guides us. And it was revealed to us again. This good star was guiding us, its light complete. And this star, when it came before us, supported all our journey, guiding us with its hidden light. We were not disturbed by the light of the sun or the moon because their light was small compared to its light in our eyes. By night and by day, we walked in its light, rejoicing and glad, without hindrance and without obstacle. He made our path straight and smooth before us. We were at peace in his light. Even numerous gifts were in our eyes, and nothing was lacking. Rather, day by day, its abundance increased greatly. As he was with us, guiding us in his light. He provided us rest from all labor. As if we were not traveling, yet we were walking. The mountains and hills and the rough places were made smooth before us. Even the ancient rivers we crossed.

And even the ancient radiance of his feet passed over them, without fear, because his light, which was good to us, was perfect for our salvation. And when they passed again through the places of life and evil spirits, they were led by his feet. And in all directions, he guided and directed them in all forms and visions that appeared to each one of us in his glory. And great joy filled our hearts. And they had all the strength to walk in small and humble steps. Because the blessed and strong light was great among all the words of men who spoke to him. He was our guide with his pure power. And when we arrived at Jerusalem, the place, in the month of the gifts, the son brought a good offering into Jerusalem.

They were shaken, and their leaders and chiefs asked us why we came here. Was it because of the secrets of your magi? Because they saw that we were free in the sky and worshiped us. And they prayed to our guide. Because they did not know about the mysteries and thought of us as magi. And we told them that we saw the supreme majesty in our place, as commanded by our fathers, the king, the Messiah, the life-giver, and the savior who gave his life for all the world.

He was born among us. And we came because we saw all his signs and the hidden forms of his divinity in the form of a man clothed in the body. And we came joyfully with pure offerings that our fathers had placed in the cave of the treasures of the hidden mysteries on the mountain of eternity. And he commanded us with a great vision to come to this place to worship him with reverence. Because in every place there is worship for him. He was a life-giver, a savior, and a forgiver of sins for them

And in His hand, the Lord opens everything to His creation.
And He watches over His people. And He sent a call to the elders [the honorable] of the city. Herod, the governor of the place, asked them where it was written about the birth of the king, the Messiah, and the Savior, the life-giver of the world. And they all, with one voice, told him that it was written in Bethlehem, as it was told by the supreme authority to our father David, the ancient prophet who lived in ancient times.

When they heard this, they rejoiced greatly. When they heard this, they rejoiced greatly. When they saw His vision and His management, they were filled with joy. When the secrets and mysteries and all praises were spoken, we went with joy to Bethlehem, as the scribes had written. They did not believe anything written in their books. Even Herod, the blind and deaf governor, did not believe in the love of the light born in their place. For from ancient times, there was light.

But they lived in darkness in the world from their days. But he [Herod] told us mockingly that when you see Him, the Messiah, tell me, so that I may also go and worship Him. Because it was not fitting to worship the born light. Because this word of error filled us with confusion and darkness. We should not descend to Him. Because it was not fitting to see the light of the Creator of the world. Because everything was silent and deaf from His worship. And we went and ascended in a hurry to Bethlehem, to [prepare] the city for the holy child and the great light born in it. To kill and to destroy all the deceivers, and to abolish death.

We all entered the house where He was born. And we saw the cave as a dwelling place and the appearance of the cave, filled with the treasures of hidden mysteries found in that place.

And you will see the cave as a dwelling, and the appearance of the cave of hidden treasures of the cedar trees that are in our place. From there, you will learn the hidden mysteries that were proclaimed about it, placed there by our ancient fathers. And our days will be fulfilled in the coming of the one who is for peace. You will see His pillar of light descending, as it was seen from before. And He will stand before the cave. The star of light that rose above it will descend from the pillar. Angels will be on His right and left.

When you see Him with us, you will fear. When the pillar, star, and angels go before the cave where He was born in this place of mystery and the light of life, He will also tell us with a voice of love, 'Enter in, and follow Him.' We will carry the crowns and place them at His feet, because His kingdom is eternal. We will bless and worship Him on the earth, because every knee shall bow to Him and worship Him, in heaven and on earth.

We will open the sealed mysteries. When we are sealed, we will enter into the mysteries of life, sealed in the supreme greatness. We will also open before Him the treasures of life to receive from Him in the kingdom with many blessings. Before Him, we will present the treasures of life to be accepted from Him in the kingdom with many wings.

He opened His mouth, the praised child. The original light, complete in the will of the great Father. And He said to us in love, with gracious and pure words, 'Peace to you, my hidden treasures, children of the supreme light. Because you have been chosen to see the original light of eternity. You and your fathers. And as you were chosen, so you have accepted Him in love, peace without division.

Again, you will see Him in His great light, which no longer has any mystery before it. Because all of them are perfected in Him. He alone reigns from now on over everything, and everything is subject to Him.

I am the one who was revealed to you in your place. I spoke with you in secrets. I was also your guide and leader, until you came to me in peace. And I will be with you even to the end. I will not separate from you, nor from all those who believe in me with love and peace. And you will also be my witnesses in the place of the east with my disciples. Those who serve me and proclaim my hope. And what the Father has desired and completed in all that He commanded me, I ascended with praise, as I was with Him in it.

And even now that I speak to you with this, I was not revealed from the greatness of the Father. Another sign will come to you, that you may be amazed at it. In your trouble, you saw the sun become dark in the daytime as at night. There was a great earthquake on the earth, and the voice of the dead was heard from their graves praising: 'Now the days and hours have ended in my coming to you.'

Lift your eyes to the heavens and see how they are opened before you. The hand that is mine in righteousness ascends with praise. I sit at the right hand of the great Father, from whom I was sent for His life to the world. When these words are spoken with us, they are illuminating. The entire cave shines for him, as if it were another world. The cave becomes for him like another world, unlike any light with it. And many voices of hope are spoken, which are not yet fulfilled.

In the morning, mercy is revealed, the holy child, complete in the will of the supreme greatness. You will be complete, and everything will be in your hand. And trust in your light and your word will be completed and fulfilled.

All the worlds, both visible and invisible. And all the angels and powers worship you. And your place is the life that comes to your servants. And your light is the first, because you are the beloved glory of the Father’s will. And you are the image and will that created everything. The one who examines the hidden things. Because it is by the word that everything in thought is known. And you are everything, and everything is in you. Nothing exists outside of your will.

And when all these praises are spoken and heard, they will tremble and quake. They will fall on the ground like the dead. And he will extend his right hand, the child of light, with great power, and place it upon them. And he will strengthen them and say to us: My children, do not fear. For all that you have seen and heard from the first day until now, you have observed in them. Even those who hear them, they are not greater than me. But upon you will be my power, because you are weak and sick. For to me you are very small. For one of the great ones I have with the Father who sent me. You are not able to see or hear these things because of your weakness. But as you are appointed to see and hear these at this time, now you observe as great ones in your eyes.

Furthermore, you will drink in my love that is eternal. So that you may see and hear these great things that are now spoken and that no creature can speak, neither the angels nor the saints. Because even for them, these great things are good.

Therefore, arise and go in peace to your place to receive the light. For you are appointed to receive the perfect light of the supreme greatness. And you will come and worship Him with your offerings.

In joy. And you have completed everything that was commanded of you by your fathers. And you are also appointed to know and to learn the hidden mysteries written for you from ancient generations. Now you have seen the peace of your mysteries. And everything that was commanded of you, you have completed in my love and testimony. And you are also appointed to be my witnesses in the East with my disciples, who gather before me so that the world may be. And what my Father desired, I have fulfilled in everything He commanded me. And I have ascended to Him in praise: I send to you from among those who gather before me to your place. And they will speak and testify with you the truth so that you may be sealed in one peace.

Arise, therefore, go in peace. For I am also with you in all visions and appearances: as I have been with you from the first day. For I am indeed with you in vision and in all likeness of appearances. And you are observing in all visions and appearances that you see me. Even to the Father of greatness whose will I am from the world. And I am not revealed from you forever, even to the Father. For I am the shining one of His light, and I have sent you to be enlightened. And you are observing as weak people: one as soon as I have come to you in the greatness of my Father. For you were not able to stand before me. Even the angels and the hosts above you, when I descend upon them, and they see the vision of wonders with fear and trembling, they arise.

And for them as if it were not for them I have appeared. And for you as if you were finding it, you will see it. For indeed, an image and likeness of the world to this great Father is not. But if I am illuminated by it, I am from it, its will and its power and its wisdom are mine.

In my Father, and my Father in me. And as is fitting to God to be seen and known by the world. And as the children of wisdom receive and hear in love the greatness of the Father who sent me. And now I have appeared to you in the likeness of humanity, to fulfill all that was written about me. Because of the offense and foolishness of the sin of your first father Adam, who was your deceiver to Sheol. And death had power over you, and deceivers ruled over your paths. But I have hoped for his mercy that he had for you, and you became a possession for eternity. And I have made known to you also your freedom even to your fathers, and your first deceit. From deceit, you are now illuminated. And not in vain were you created in the world, and heaven and earth and all the worlds exist because of you. And also, the Father of greatness, because of his love, sent me, and I took your likeness. By it, I abolished and completed all your afflictions and captivities, and I brought you near to the Father as a pure and complete offering. For in you there is nothing of the falsehood of the deceivers. And I freed you in love and truth, in pure waters, and a holy spirit's birth. And you will be to me as brothers in love and believers, as children in whom there is nothing of the falsehood of evil from now and forever. For joy and praise and thanks in the highest heavens are given from you by my hand which has its will. And joy and deliverance and fellowship of the spirit, and life eternal are given to you by my hands, so that everything in peace and without division is yours. As it was from the beginning under the wings of the Father. When he sanctified and loved you, his power and compassion will be upon you, you blessed of all ages. And also, the voice will be heard from the height and from all directions, and from within the earth.

And they said, "Amen." They desired the life of peace and joy and the peace of all the worlds. And when we received from him the commandments of life, we went out from before him with great joy and much delight and with praise. When we filled our hearts with great hope for the coming. And Joseph and Mary, honorable and good people, went out with us. They were persuaded and believed that they should call and be the parents and educators of the child, whose voice was heard by the virgin. And they raised the chosen one who was filled with love and perfect mercy. Mary was the gate to the great light that came into the world with goodness to chase away the darkness. And she was the vessel of life, [to God who gave himself]. He appeared in the form of a human being. And he had a name and a memory and goodness for generations. They lifted their eyes and saw the light that was born in mercy in their house, that was with us and filled us. And they said to us: In your house, it is not better than his house for light and great hope for the whole world. And you went with him and you revealed yourselves from him. For with great goodness, it was granted that we might believe to be ministers for the upbringing of the body that was seen among us. And now, behold, he is with you, you see him who has gone. We say to him: Blessed woman among women, good Mary. You were chosen in mercy to receive in your womb the spirit in your pure hearing. And you will bear the child of life, the eternal word. You were chosen and made to be called his mother. And now behold, your praiseworthy one will be born from you. And here in the house, it is ready for you. Even though from hunting, he is not saved. As he said to us. For the gift is great of life. Through your birth, it was given to all the worlds.

And the secret that was hidden from before in the Father of all, was revealed to us through your birth. And you appeared, the giver of life, who was the keeper for all the kingdoms. Your gift was not alone, but a great gift and light of life. Rather, all the high [and low] worlds. Lift up your eyes and see, in all creation, there is and shines [for all.] It is filled with its wonderful secrets. And now it appears in the world in the body. Even his images are visible everywhere. Because for life and salvation for all people, he was sent from his greatness.

And when Joseph and Mary turned to him, they saw all this. They heard about the holy child. And they went to their home. And Mary rose and found the child of light when he smiled and praised all his great and wonderful secrets that are proclaimed in the world from the beginning. And all were amazed at the vision of the day. And he praised and thanked his Father who sent him for the salvation of his world.

And Mary and Joseph worshiped him and said to him, 'I rejoice that I have seen the giver of life and light, and the holy child who hears with his ears. And mercy opened through his holy mercy. Lord of holy virginity, I greatly rejoice that I found my great giver in my house that you were born in. And for the great thanks that there is forever. Because you were my beloved. You took the easterners with your great love towards them in exchange for the offerings they brought to you from yours. Because I greatly rejoice in your holy image with them as you went.'

And he answered her with a soft and gentle voice and said to her, 'Peace be with you, my mother and my caretaker, for you are blessed among women. Because you were chosen for the glory of the voice of life. You accepted me and in your womb with love in your mind and in faith without division: you will receive the reward for your service.

And there will be goodness and remembrance for you in all generations. And in the new world, you will receive a good reward. And through you will be hope and life for the living and their offspring. Because through your existence, the spear of the sword has passed for those who live. And there will be through you peace and completeness for all the worlds. Forever and ever, Amen.

For I have appeared to you in your house. The will of the Father who sent me is that I should perfect. And every person who hears me and believes will live. Your service, therefore, is indeed fulfilled perfectly and without blemish. That you will receive in it a good salvation. Therefore, I turn to all my brothers who are in all the world. That everything the Father has commanded me, I shall fulfill perfectly for the believers. That they may receive the fruits of life forever. And I have given them all the kingdoms of my Father. That through me they are completed and given and perfected for the believers and for everyone who believes in me.

And when we came to the house of the first mother, once again the first light appeared to us. And we were very joyful and amazed. And we blessed and worshiped him on the ground before him. And we praised the vision. And we answered in our voices as one. And we said to him: 'We worship and give thanks for your kindness, for your light. For in your presence, we are filled with joy and peace.'

And he answered and said to us: 'I am with you in all places. And there is no place where I am not. I am even as you leave me, I am with you. More than the sun, for I am. And there is no place in the world that is hidden from me as it is from one who is hidden from the world. And if he who is hidden from the world is revealed, all his deeds remain in darkness. How much more am I who am the sun. And my light and my fullness surpasses that of the sun.

All these things
[luminous and -]life-giving we know. And they are true to us. And we believe that all these marvels [we saw with] all of your believers, they are few. Upon us therefore is our honor, and no mouth can say these things. And we confess each one of them.

And as it was until the moment of our renewal, let us be delighted from the provisions that came with us from our place when we arrived. Then and again, with more fear, when we praised his greatness among us, he did not lack from our strength.

And as we were refreshed in our hearts from him, from his assurance, joy and praise were spoken by each of us. Like a spring of many waters, so were the visions and marvels that were undoubted, one to another. They were saying and praising him.

To this one and to our guide and to the light that enlightens us, and to the many forms and to his praiseworthy garments, and to his perfect images and to his likenesses, that are ours. And all the honor of his witnesses were praising with us until we reached the borders.

And all our bands and their children, and many of our sons of our place went to our land. And when they heard that we had arrived, they were overjoyed with great joy and received us as they were delighted and amazed and praised. And they marveled at our vision and at the greatness of all that is enlightened within us. And as we came to their sides, they gathered and came to us. And they began to speak to them and to inform them about our journey, how it was.

And about the amazing visions that were filled for us and about our ascent to Jerusalem. And about everything that was spoken to us. And about our journey to Bethlehem. And about the glorious and wondrous visions of the Father of the Greatness. When we saw in the cave: a great light and marvelous visions. In the appearance of a humble human being. Concerning the light of the star that went before us like a beautiful guide. And when we entered again, we saw the original glory that cannot be described. And we fell and worshipped him, the divine child of great light. When two angels were standing, and when the pillar of cloud arose.

Just as all the visions that we had seen before in the mountains of victory, in the cave of the treasures of the hidden mysteries that are in our place. Even in that cave, all of them truly were fulfilled. Even concerning his form and his garments, of the praiseworthy and divine child that appeared to us in the cave of Bethlehem. And he spoke to us and taught us that all the mysteries and wonders and forms and revelations, and everything that was spoken about him by the prophets and throughout the world, from the first day until today. Thus his will, who sent me, is completed in me. And concerning everything that he sent me to fulfill.

And we offered him offerings that we took from the cave of treasures. That were prepared for our fathers from his own. And we worshipped him with great reverence. And he opened his mouth gloriously and praiseworthy. And he spoke to us kindly. Just as we found and were worthy to hear him. So it was sown in us the word of life. And he spoke to us and revealed to us the place of life. And concerning his supreme kingdom of the Father of greatness, the Lord of all, who sent him for the healing of the world, to carry their sufferings. Because he found no one who could fulfill them in any of the ancient prophets. But by the will of his merciful Son who completes them. And he ordered us to come to our place in peace. And when we came to the first habitation, as we rejoiced and were amazed at all the way, we found him again, and his light with all the forms that we had seen before. And we were exceedingly afraid and trembling greatly.

When we worship and praise the greatness that fills the sanctuary. And also the provisions when we fill our vessels, and we are satisfied from his blessings, and we even receive from the provisions we brought with us when we filled them, and we are satisfied with their contents. Because the power of his blessings rests upon us. And it provides you and you believe everything: the visions and wonders you have seen. And you will also drink from them and be his believers and followers. And his great power and his revelations are even with you. Because even this is truly present as he told us and we believe, that his light does not depart from the righteous. And also he is present in all the world. For he is light, for all is enough and enlightens with his complete love. Seek that there be no division in heart, peace, and true faith, from the will. And eat from these provisions that came with us. And be mixed and united with his blessings that fill us and are with us forever.

And people took from them when they rejoiced in love from those provisions. And they ate. And they rejoiced greatly and were delighted when they praised and said to one another. Everything that appeared to them was. There were those who said that they saw in it at the time they ate from these provisions, a great light that has no equal in the world. And there were those who said they saw God giving his soul in the world as he willed. And there were those who said that they saw the star of light whose light eclipsed the sun. And there were those who said they saw a man whose appearance was like that of a powerful man. And he wiped and purified the world with his blood and his humble appearance. And there were those who said they saw as if a lamb hung on the branch of life. And in him was deliverance and with his blood for all the creatures of the world.

And there were those who said they saw the pillar of light that was established in the midst of the mercies of the earth. And the dead were rising to their inheritance. And they were worshipping and praising Him with great joy. And many others from among them were saying to one another. Those who ate were from their provisions. And their minds were filled with great praises day by day. And there was great joy in the entire region of the east. And they were gathering together in the love of our Lord, the many, the poor, women, and children from all the land. With them were the many who were called wise men. And they came and heard from them new and praiseworthy teachings and revelations and miracles. And everything that was spoken with them from the beginning until they came here with joy. And day by day, further revelations and visions were added to them. And all powerful wonders and the great faith in the love of the testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ. With the powers of works that were in their hands. That child of light who appeared to them until the will of the one who sent him was fulfilled in everything. And he ascended in praise to the heights, the one who gave the command. And many who heard were gathered. When Thomas Judah descended again to there: by the will of our Lord, and what he sent. Moreover, great faith increased in those who heard. By the great powers and miracles that were done there by Thomas Judah, the apostle of our Lord. And when the many who went heard Judah] to them: Just as He told them [that the light appeared to them. They gathered and went to him] to be united [with him in prayer and in faith. They asked about the well-being] of Judah with love and peace. [When they rejoiced in our Lord. And Judah was greatly] rejoiced in them as well. [When they rejoiced in our Lord. And Judah was greatly] rejoiced in them as well. [When they were with him for days, they conversed with Judah about how they should receive] from the first day [this gift of light of the world. And about their journey to him in Bethlehem. And everything that was discussed with them. And about the visions and sights they saw there in the cave. And about how they were filled with] the light for all [their journey in visions and many revelations. And when] Judah [the apostle knew that this gift of our Lord was given] upon them, he also spoke to them about their salvation. When they all gathered together as one. And about the powers, healings, and mighty works done before their eyes by his apostles. And about the appearances of his icons. And about his marvelous forms. They could not stop talking about them. For at all times, it appeared to us how we were amazed by them. And how we stood in awe of them in wonder and in spirit. Not ever lacking a moment. It appeared to people in this way. And when all the brethren heard. When Judah spoke to them, they all praised in one voice the Lord of great majesty. By the hand of his living son. And they asked from Judah, the apostle of our Lord. To be united with him in the seal of our Lord. And Judah said. Brethren, I am also one of you. For upon him this gift was sent in life. For everyone who believes in life. And in love, receives the seal of our Lord Jesus Christ in truth. The adversary has no power over him. At night, the dawn of the first day shone. Judah then went to those brothers who requested from him, when they rejoiced to receive even that seal of our Lord. He went to the spring of water, took the oil, praised over it, and said, "We praise you, the mystery of life. For with oil, you have given us the grace of anointing. To you, be the glory, the hidden mystery that in Christ [you have given us life through grace. To you, be the glory,] the hidden mystery that in Christ has given us life and [hope. And in it, you enlighten] us and take us out of darkness and error. And by your mystery, the righteous athletes who have conquered their adversaries are blessed. To you be the glory, the mystery of Christ, who made the fellowship of Christ with you. And in it, the righteous are perfected in the struggle." And with joy, he dipped even in the water like a bride. The Spirit of holiness mingled the soul with wisdom and renewed the body in the birth of life. That is the fellowship of the firstborn. That renews human beings [in their birth to life] forever. And he poured it upon these believers [whom our Lord Jesus Christ loves.] And they are pure and holy, free from all blemishes of their bodies. [And they become for you a priesthood] for your work. And a joy [to the Son of Mercies, the Redeemer. And they are sanctified in the complete birth] of life. And he baptized them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And when they came up [from the water, all of them, they saw a child of light above them:] who descended from heaven and said to them, Peace be with you, sons of all the cedar trees. And now in your birth, all the visions and revelations that you have seen from the first day have been completed. And they feared and fell to the ground. And when they arose, they saw him in the form of a beautiful and divine youth. And when he took the bread of peace, he blessed and broke it. And he gave it first to Judah the apostle, and also to each one of them, and said to them, "This is the peace and seal of your birth to life. From now and forever, you will be strengthened in my kingdoms." And when he vanished from their sight, they saw him again as he ascended to heaven with praise that has no end. And Judah said, "We praise your greatness with songs and your unity with many praises. And your glory that we have seen, and the garment that you wore for our sake; for your great compassion has clothed us with power. And with how many names you are named, when not one of them exists. You alone, in your own, know your great name and your majesty, and your exalted Father. And no other human." And all these [garments that you wore and appeared in for our sake, so that we may know you, because you loved us with your many mercies that were upon us. And everything that was said about you,] the crosses you bore.

And when you ascend from all these hardships, and being the son of his nature, you are not afraid. For us, our salvation will be [by your kindness. And all that you have endured and all that you have borne. For you are indeed our intercessor, our guide, our light, and our life-giver. And because we believe in you, everything that is in you is for us. And you have given us complete confidence in your love for us, so that all that you endured upon the cross will be for our sake]. And all the new disciples of the word of life said in great joy: "We praise and worship and give thanks. And we confess to Your greatness that is not proclaimed by the mouth of men. For we are amazed by it and by Your great light that descended upon our astonishment. For You have joined us by Your mercies to Your fellowship of life forever. And when they were exceedingly joyful in thanksgiving and in prayer and in the visions of our Lord, many brothers were added in faith day by day. And Judah said to them, 'Brothers, let us fulfill the command of our Lord who said to us, 'Go into all the world and preach my hope.' So, brothers, you also be preachers of the word like us. For you too have received the gift of our Lord. Go you also into every place and proclaim His gift of light and of our amazement to all men who are not restrained. And they went out from there to every place, and they were proclaiming in love and peace about the coming of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, the Son of the Lord of all. When they also were performing miracles and healings in the name of our Lord, they were not proclaimed by the mouth of men. By the Spirit of Holiness that was poured upon them by the gift of our Lord, they were proclaiming the true faith. When they were saying and teaching everyone, 'Leave the darkness and come to the unfading light.' As you should, you will be hidden under the wings of our Lord Jesus our amazement and in the house of the great branch in the last day. From the judgment of the power of fire that comes from peace. That you may purify the whole earth from the errors of the kingdom that was entered in anger. And you will be strengthened in faith from the burning of fire. And you will ascend to rest, that is pleasant to all the elders and the believers who believed in the perfection of light and in life forever. In the kingdom of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, the Son of the Lord, in all His greatness above. In His new world and in His high and great light that is unfading forever, in His praise. You will rest forever above. Amen and Amen.

The end of the prayer concerning the Magi and their offerings. In the year two thousand and nineteen, Herod killed the children of Bethlehem because of the Messiah. In the year two thousand and twenty, Herod killed the infants of Bethlehem from two years old and under, according to the word of the Magi, as he thought that with them the Messiah was killed. And then the judgment of God reached him, and it was fitting for him and for his servants. For before this, the fire that is not revealed outside burned him. How much more so did it tighten around his neck. And although he did not accept any cure, his stomach did not cease to swell. And worms filled and ate him, and pain and illness tormented him. A cold spirit rose up over him. Even the fragrance of burnt herbs and incense could not help him. His severe pains from all his wounds tormented him. And there was no power in him to break free. God split his pains and wounds. Therefore, when he was being strangled by all his wounds, even when he rested, he remained distressed. And he cried out for healing and deliverance from his body. He went to a hot bath that was in Kolyrin, from which the waters flowed into the sea of Asphalites. When he was there, they hoped for a cure to anoint his body with ointment.

And when he drowned in the vessel filled with oil, everything burst open and his eyes were turned upside down. Great fear fell upon his servants. In pain, he groaned and consumed food with anguish. From there, he was brought to Jericho, and he was bitter and fighting against death. He struggled because of the curse of the evil worm. He gathered all his courtiers and informed everyone in the place called Beit Rihata de Rakhsha to be imprisoned. He summoned his sister and her husband Alkes and said to them, 'For the Jews, it is known that this day is great for them as the day of death. But I am found guilty of another affliction by others, and it will be upon me in this manner. Because you will keep my commandment for those who are imprisoned, with my death, men will rise against them and kill them. And even if they do not wish, they will weep for me.' When he was seized by severe pain from the worm, it was thought that he should be killed. He took a knife and asked for a blade. For it was intended to cut and eat thus. After this, he rose to see if there was a man to call to him. He lifted his right hand as if to kill himself. Even from a short time before his death, with those two sons whom he had killed, he also killed another three. Thus, in bitter pain, he died. When from this, he saw the strangulation that awaited him.

Great priests knew about these days of the Messiah. Hanan and after him Shemaiah, son of Phavi, and after him Eleazar, son of Hanan, and after him Kepha, who was Josephus the scribe. He was the great priest in the days of Hasha. And he also lived until the destruction of Jerusalem. After Herod, king over the Jews, Archelaus ruled for nine years.

In those days, Judah the Galilean was known, who spoke in Pharkesis. When he rebelled and went out to the desert with many people. And when he sought to enter Jerusalem, he resembled the Messiah in appearance, which was written in the books. He approached the Mount of Olives with a great army with him. The Roman army went out against him and killed him. His entire army was dispersed and destroyed.

In the year two thousand and thirty-two, there was a severe and great famine in Rome and all the western regions until the rain ceased and the earth was covered with locusts and storms. Confession of sins increased by reason of the plague. In the year one thousand one hundred and seventy and a half.

In the year two thousand and twenty-four, Abgar reigned over Edessa.

In the year two thousand and twenty-nine, King Archelaus destroyed the city of Galatia. Herod Tetrarch succeeded him for twenty-four years. In that year, Augustus died after ruling for fifty-six years and six months. Tiberius succeeded him and ruled for twenty-three years.

In the year two thousand and thirty-four, there was a great and severe earthquake in the land of Asia, and it devastated and overturned cities and regions, destroying many of their inhabitants in a single strike, like grapes.

For it overturned and destroyed thirteen cities: Ephesus, Magnesia, Sardis, and Metropolis. And Agaida, and Caesarea, and Philadelphia, and Temulus, and Tamus, and Qoma, and Myrina, and Apollonia, and Huricaneia, all of these were destroyed in this wrath because of their sins. It destroyed all their villages and all their dwellings.

And in that year, the theater of Pompeii burned down.

In the year two thousand and forty, Philip built the city of Caesarea. And again, he built another city, Julius.

In the year two thousand and forty-three, Pilate became the procurator over Judea.

In the year two thousand and forty-four, Herod built the city of Tiberias. And because he wanted to honor Caesar, he named it Tiberias. He also built the city of Libya.

And in that year, John, son of Zechariah, was preaching in the wilderness on the banks of the Jordan River, proclaiming to everyone that among them was the Messiah, the Son of God. And also Jesus began his ministry of salvation and the gospel, showing signs and deeds of divine power to those who saw them.

Herod married Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, while he was still alive. He took her as his wife first, as was lawful. She was the daughter of King Aretas of the Arabians. Herodias divorced her husband while he was alive because of her close relationship with King Aretas, but she was overcome by his daughter. In this close relationship, Herod’s entire army was killed. Because he was also rebuked by John the Baptist for not marrying his brother's wife.

And again, when he heard the words of John, Herod was afraid. And when he saw that all the people were praying after him and that many assemblies were gathered, with the powerful words that were before men, he was afraid that perhaps this desire would lead to rebellion. For he saw that everything in his region was disturbed and according to his command, John was imprisoned. He was considered among the evil ones because many times he was about to be killed before he became his successor. And after him, he fell into despair, considering John as an enemy. From this was Herod's determination. When John was imprisoned, he was sent to the place called Machaerus and there he was killed. From then on, Herod and Herodias were pursued. They were expelled beyond the borders to the city of Baeina in Exoria. There he received a mark on his head that signified his slavery.

They spent years from the month of Tammuz of the second year of the temple in Jerusalem, which was in the second year of King Darius of Persia until this year when it was the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius. Fifty-eight years. From Solomon's peace and the first building of the temple, one thousand and sixty-one years. From Moses and the exodus from Egypt, one thousand five hundred and forty-one years. From Abraham and the reign of Ninus and Shemiram, two thousand and forty-four years. From the flood until Abraham, nine hundred and forty-two years. From Adam until the flood, two thousand six hundred and forty-four years.

In the year two thousand and forty-six, King Abgar of Edessa sent a letter to the Messiah to the land of Jerusalem. In the year two thousand and forty-nine of Abraham, the father of nations, and of Alexander, son of Philip of Macedonia, one thousand three hundred and forty-two years, Jesus the Messiah, according to the prophecy about Him, was crucified. In the nineteenth year of the reign of Tiberius.

At that time, the Greeks found in other places these signs. The sun was darkened. In Tonia, it was shaken. And from the clearest and greatest, it fell. And it testified to those who were amazed at the time of salvation.

It is also written by Pelagon who wrote chronicles about them, that thirteen such events happened. In the fourth year of the Olympics, there was a great eclipse of the sun until noon. From those who were before him, it was not heard of, and the night was for six hours. Like the stars in the sky, they were moving. There was a great earthquake and much was from the clearest. This man who was mentioned said, "Therefore, in this year, it was perceived, the salvation testified by John, which was in the fifteenth year of Tiberius.

This was three years before the testimony of our Lord. At that time, Josephus also wrote. That on the day of Pentecost, there was a great storm and a great earthquake that seized the priests. And after that, a strong voice from within the inner sanctuary was heard, saying, "We are moving from here." Another thing was written by Josephus, that Pilate the governor at that time placed a statue of Caesar in the temple at night. This was not allowed to be done. The head of the assembly and the high priest opposed this and the Jews cast it away. Even the door of the temple was destroyed. Many of the dead rose from their graves and were seen by many.

They accused Him of His vision and the wrath of our Lord. Auitus to Antonius Lykinus Spartus, greetings. Just as you asked of me: by my agent Protontus, I have made known to those who are in court that concerning Jesus the Messiah, it has been decided for me that all those who were in the provinces and on the sea, I write and declare to you. And I also ask you to obey me. For that agent of mine said to me that he called men from among the disciples of Jesus, and many of them gave you and were with you. Know, therefore, that the chief priests and the scribes of the people of the Jews were hostile to Jesus. Especially among the men who were alive, they seized Jesus and brought him to the master Pilate. Because like a blasphemer and one who dissolves the law, he was worthy of death. ... He was brought near to him, and many things were said against him. When Pilate knew that he was a Galilean and under the authority of Herod, he sent him to Herod. For he was in Jerusalem because of the feast of unleavened bread. When Herod heard from the chief priests and the Pharisees, he also sent him back to Pilate. And he sent him to those who were accusing this man. Many things were declared. Because those others, the children of Jerusalem, denounced him. Therefore, under your authority ...

In the year two thousand and sixty-six of Abraham, there was a severe famine in Rome. Many perished in it. In the year two thousand and sixty-seven, Ma'anu son of Abgar, king of Edessa, died. And his brother Ma'anu reigned after him for fourteen years. In the year two thousand and seventy, Claudius, king of the Romans, died. And Nero reigned in his place for thirteen years and seven months. During Nero's reign, there were many afflictions. Because of the wrath of God, there was destruction. His evil was recorded for us in history. Many revolted against him, especially those who wanted to escape his rule. This man did not leave any great deeds behind. Up to this point, the accusation of murder was confirmed when his own household members were killed. Because of him, he lost his mother, brothers, wives, and many from his family. Just as with evil men and enemies of life, he killed them all.

In the year two thousand eighty-four, Saint Paul the Apostle was martyred in Rome, when he was beheaded by the sword. In the same year, Peter, the head of the apostles, was also martyred when he was crucified upside down. They followed the Messiah for thirty-five years.

In the year two thousand seventy-one, in the days of Nero, when Felix was the governor over Judea, Josephus speaks again about the tribulations and sufferings of the priests, each one to another, and wrote thus in his history. The priests were insulted by the great priests towards the high priests and the leaders of Jerusalem. Each one made a barrier of herbs and seditions against them. He was their leader. When they opposed each other, they spoke evil words against each other and threw stones.

So it was among them. And for the city, there is no blood of the wanderer. During those times, there was a riot in Jerusalem by the Zealots. In those days, in the midst of the city, those who were injured were being killed. Especially in mixed assemblies, they were falling under the sword beneath their garments. And among the famous people, many of them were also falling from among those who were stirring up murder. Because of their schemes, they were not being recognized. First, Jonathan, the chief priest, was killed. And after him, many were killed every day. It was because of the fear of it from the fear of the whole age. And it was like a burden upon every person's death.

In the year two thousand and seventy-two, the Jews made a rebellion in Caesarea. Many of them perished.

In the year two thousand and seventy-five, Felix was removed from Judea. And Festus, the procurator, came to his place.

In the year two thousand and seventy-six, Paul was sent as a prisoner to Rome for the first time.

In the year two thousand and seventy-seven, Saint James, the brother of our Lord, who was the first bishop of the church of Jerusalem, was martyred.

Therefore, when Paul appealed to Caesar and was sent to Rome by Festus, from that judgment of disgrace that was considered upon him, they turned against James, the brother of our Lord. He had received from the apostles the throne of the episcopate of Jerusalem. And they brought him to the middle. They urged him to deny his faith in the Messiah in front of the whole assembly. He then, outside of their will and ambition, with a loud voice in front of all the people, confessed plainly that he was the Son of God, our Lord Jesus the Messiah. When they could not persuade him to retract his testimony, because every person believed he was righteous, because of the fullness of the wisdom of his words and the fear of God that was in him, they found it was the time of the feast when Festus died in Judea. There was no governor for them at that time. Without a leader and governor, their nourishment was cut off. James, the brother of our Lord, was more esteemed by everyone for his righteousness. From our Lord until now, he was the head of the church of Jerusalem. Because of the many miracles attributed to him, James was called during this time. He was therefore sanctified from his mother's womb. He did not drink wine or strong drink. He ate nothing that had life in it. He did not shave his head, nor did he anoint himself with oil, nor did he bathe. By himself, he would go into the temple. They would find him kneeling and asking forgiveness for the people, so much that his knees became like those of a camel. Because of his continuous kneeling, he blessed and worshipped God. He asked for forgiveness for the people. Because of the greatness of his righteousness, he was called the righteous and the protector of the people and their righteousness. As the prophets had spoken about him, people from the seven sects of the Jews asked him, 'What is the gate of Jesus?' He answered them: 'That is the Savior.'" And many believed that Jesus was the Messiah. Those who believed in him because of James's testimony. Since many of the leaders of the people believed, there was a tumult among the Jews, the scribes, and the Pharisees. They said, 'All the people will believe in Jesus the Messiah.'

So they gathered and said to James, 'We ask you to persuade all the people concerning Jesus, who was crucified, to clarify that he is not the Messiah. We ask you to speak before all these people who have come for the Passover concerning Jesus. We all listen to you. We testify to you, and all the people consider you a righteous person. Therefore, do not lead them astray concerning Jesus.

All the people and we listen to you. Stand on the pinnacle of the temple so that you may be seen by all, and your words may be heard by all the people. Because for the Passover, all the tribes with the Gentiles have come.'

So the scribes and Pharisees placed him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, 'Righteous one, to whom we all should listen, tell the people about Jesus who was crucified.' James then called out in a loud voice, 'Why do you ask me about the Son of Man? He is sitting at the right hand of great power and is about to come on the clouds of heaven.'

Many were convinced and glorified James's testimony, saying, 'Hosanna to the Son of David.'

Then the scribes and Pharisees said to each other, 'We have done wrong by giving him such a testimony.' But they said, 'Let us take him up and throw him down so that they may be afraid and not believe in him.' And they cried out and said, 'Oh, oh, the righteous one is in error.' They fulfilled what is written (in Isaiah), 'Let us throw down the righteous one because he is a stumbling block to us, for what our hands have done, we will eat.' So they went up and threw down the righteous one. And they said to one another, 'Let us stone the righteous James.' They began to stone him, but he did not die from the fall. Instead, he turned and knelt down and said, 'I beseech you, Lord God, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.' And they continued to stone him.

One of the priests, the sons of Rechab, who was also one of the witnesses, cried out and said, 'Stop! What are you doing? The righteous one is praying for you.' Then one of them, a fuller, took a club used for beating clothes and struck the righteous one's head. Thus he was martyred. They buried him in that place by the temple.

After him, Simon the son of Cleophas, the brother of Joseph who was married to Mary and the father of James, was bishop in Jerusalem. This Simon, called the Zealot, was the ruler of Jerusalem after James, the brother of the Lord.

In the year two thousand and seventy-eight, Saint Mark, the bishop of Alexandria, died, and Anianus succeeded him.

In the year two thousand and eighty, there was a great earthquake, and three cities in the region of Asia fell: Laodicea, Hierapolis, and Colossae.

At that time, the Jewish people rebelled again. Josephus continued to describe the evils that befell the Jewish people. In showing their words with many others, many of those who were called Jews were provoked in cities in Jerusalem and they were crucified by Florus, who was the procurator of Judea. When the beginning of the war was recognized, in the thirteenth year of Nero's reign, throughout all Syria, by the rebellion of the Jews, a severe blow came upon the people. For everywhere from the neighboring villages of the cities, where there was no mercy, people were killed in the battle.

A man would see the cities filled with dead bodies. The corpses were not buried, and the young and the old, the women too, were thrown naked, covered with their clothing, and the bodies remained unburied. The famine for bread became even worse every day. These are the words of Josephus about the Jews and their afflictions.

In the year two thousand and eighty-one, Ma'nu, the king of Edessa, died, and his son Abgar, the son of Ma'nu, ruled for twenty years.

In the year two thousand and eighty-two, Nero killed all the nobles of Rome because of their testimony about the Messiah. He also killed his own wife and three daughters along with his sons.

In the year two thousand and eighty-three, Paul and Peter were martyred in Rome.

In the year two thousand and eighty-four, God’s wrath began against Nero. In that same year, the Jewish people rebelled again, and Vespasian, the chief of the Roman army, came against them with a great army. He approached Jerusalem, and as he approached it, God's wrath began against Nero. In that year, Nero, fearing the evil of all nations, killed himself with his own hands. In the year two thousand eighty-five, Galba took the throne and Titus became emperor. The Roman army, which was stationed in Jerusalem, made Vespasian their emperor and left Titus in his place. He went to establish his reign.

In the year two thousand eighty-six, Galba was killed and Vespasian became emperor. Josephus, the writer, said that this happened because he had been captured in life until the destruction of Jerusalem. After Nero ruled for thirteen and a half years, Galba ruled for one and a half years. Vespasian defeated the Jews in battle. He established the Roman army in Judea to become the emperor and autocrat. He left the battle against the Jews to his son Titus, who went to Rome.

After the ascension of our Lord, many afflictions came upon the apostles. First, they killed Stephen by stoning, and after him, James, the son of Zebedee, was beheaded. Then James, the brother of our Lord, and the other apostles were scattered. They were all killed and driven out of Judea. Those who were sent out by our Lord went to preach the good news among the Gentiles.

The people of the church in Jerusalem saw a revelation given to them before the battle, commanding them to leave the city and go to Pella, a place beyond the Jordan. All those in Jerusalem who believed in Christ were saved.

The people of the church in Jerusalem saw a revelation given to them before the battle, commanding them to leave the city and go to Pella, a place beyond the Jordan. All those in Jerusalem who believed in Christ were saved. Regarding the kingdom of Judea and the entire land of Judea: Concerning everything that was said about the Messiah and his apostles, how they were denied by the entire assembly of the wicked from that place. Those evil things were against the entire people in every place. And how the people of Judea were afflicted with more severe tribulations. Many were killed by the sword, famine, and various deaths. And the captivity that happened to many cities of Judea. Even those severe things that were seen in Jerusalem: those who escaped were taken to that place like a fortified city. And they fortified it against all war. And everyone who was in it with those who supported them. And how it rose up in the end, the abomination of desolation, as it was spoken of by the prophets, concerning that holy place that existed from ancient times for God. How it was completely destroyed by fire. That desire to learn deeply from the account of Josephus, who wrote it, is desired to learn. For that reason, Josephus showed that the entire people of Judea gathered on the days of the Passover festival. And even the prisoners were brought and bound in Jerusalem, about three hundred thousand souls. It is not for us to know. It was indeed just that on those days when they gathered, they spoke about salvation and did good works for all the people, the son of God, so that they might be bound like prisoners and receive punishment from God's judgment. Again, regarding the famine that seized the Jews with the sword and other deprivations. He spoke specifically about the severe afflictions they suffered during the famine.

And also briefly, those who read this book will know that at the beginning of their dominion over the Messiah, swiftly it was revealed to them by God. Consider therefore the testimony of Josephus, and read how it was written at that time: when he said thus, 'Those who had no possession of it (the land) would benefit equally whether they gained it or lost it.' For indeed, those riding on horseback saw that it would be profitable for the Romans to make peace. It was lost because of their possession. And along with the famine, also the severe hardships of the besieged increased daily. And every day these evils were multiplied. The sins indeed of the people were visibly evident in that place. They remained and ascended and broke into the houses. And if they found anything concerning those people and their possessions, they would strike them. But if they did not find anything, they would hang them by their necks and strangle them. For the fact that there was anything for people or not, the sight of their corpses was visible. And those from among them who were left with their corpses believed that the evidence was increasing among them that they would be killed for their near starvation. This was not a mere thought. Many of their possessions in despoilment exchanged with one another due to their sins. If they were rich, they were in distress. And if they were poor, they increased their souls in internal agony. And some of them, out of extreme need, as their sins were eating them. When they were not nourished, some indeed were like those consuming their own children. And indeed, complete relief was not to be found in that place. And from it, from the fire, they were snatched and eaten for the evidence that they were not boiled."

For fear was in the crowd, and for tears, this vision was equal. Those who were snatched from their friends were filled with trembling, and those who saw them were troubled. Every person feared the strength of hunger. And something that was destroyed in the bodies was no longer. Indeed, the agony of another person was visible in them, for they themselves were distressed. Men separated from their wives, children from their parents, and those who were humble from all of them. Their mothers took their infants from their mouths and handed them to the crowd. When they saw their loved ones in their hands, they did not care to save the remnants of their lives. And while they ate, they did not find anything. Throughout the place, they reached the conclusions, and it was handed to them, whatever they snatched. Whenever they saw that at that door of life, this was what it was, those who were inside ate something from the crowd, and suddenly they would come out to the gates. They would remain and ascend, and from their throats, they would snatch, eat, and devour. Indeed, they would say that elders saw in it the vision, and a storm arose from the women seeking something from the crowd. There was no mercy for the elders and the infants, for the infants would be taken and with the crowd, they were hanged and thrown to the ground. Those who went up first would eat from the crowd because they did not catch them. Just as when the people stumbled, they fell, murmuring. And they would disperse to find evils of the years in the midst of the crowd.
