I was thinking of your comparison of Cassiodorus, Rufinus, and Eusebius. From my minimal understanding, a lot of Freculf's history is cobbled together material from other sources. It would be pretty painstaking for me, but I might take a look at the Grunauer index to see where Freculf quotes Josephus and then see if it is possible to figure out where Freculf got the rest of his Josephus material from. Just curious if there is any way to determine if Freculf was picking and choosing between Latin texts, or just drawing all of his Josephus from one source.
