Almost like internet mavericks can be - dare one think, usually are? - toxic.

An analogy to that rewriting of history would be what Irenaeus, Tertullian and other heresiologists were saying about and thus doing to the Sethians, Valentinians, Carpocratians and Marcion (and other Marcionites). I'm not sure that forums like this amplify that stuff.

Compared to the golden age of information when nobility controlled the spread of information the post-modern age clearly represents the end of a civilization. The rabble can't be truthful. They rebel against the truth by nature. Only noble natures are capable of truthfulness. Shame is the one thing that keeps people in line and in the modern age all shame has been stripped from people's souls and we emerge as rotten corpses fornicating with corruption for the sake of selfishness. They used to write movies basically assuming that God couldn't allow a nuclear war because it would forsake the "pure" portion of humanity. There is no pure portion of humanity any longer. I am not upset about that. It frees people up enjoy their lives "to the fullest." But when the end comes, I won't think unjust. Nobility as a concept has been removed from humanity. Maybe for the better. Who knows. Tick tock.

Driving is the ultimate expression of this. There once was a time where each of us knew the rules of the road and everyone was shamed when they were caught breaking those rules. Now it's basically a fist fight at ever stop sign. Soon it will be like Lego Batman where Gotham is just overrun with anarchic chaos. Anyway it makes death seem like more of an escape from the big bang to come. If you know history you know a civilization can't be run like this.
