Why 2,900 Years From the Expulsion of Adam to Jesus?

Post by Secret Alias »

This is the date that Eznik gives to the Marcionite system. There is some suggestion elsewhere the Marcionites thought the world would last 6000 years. Why 2900?

Apparently we have two different posters employing the pseudonym "Secret Alias". One happens to answer the other.

No one happens to discover things like an Iranian eschatology developed around three or four periods of 3000 years.

On the other hand, theologians have determined that the first man wasn't Adam...

...it was another man by the same name! :tomato:

Yecs use various ways to calculate when God made it so.

Bishop Ussher has a definite date in October 4004 BCE.(?)

Day is a thousand years results in 6 o 7 thousand years.

Zarathustran calendars were probably Iranian ones, dont know what Judaism took back with them after sitting by the rivers of Babylon. They liked their 12s and 60s, 360s and numbers that add and multiply to them.

time and date of the creation as "the entrance of the night preceding the 23rd day of October... the year before Christ 4004"; that is, around 6 pm on 22 October 4004 bc according to the proleptic Julian calendar.
