The comparison with the transfiguration is an interesting one.
While at the transfiguration Jesus is conversing with Moses and Elijah, in Revelation he simply is Moses and Elijah. In other words: in the chronologically earlier gospel of Mark the transfiguration portrays Jesus’ assignment as royal and priestly messiah, in the later Revelation Jesus is the established dual messiah. Revelation 11:4-6 is the apocalyptic continuation of Mark 9:2-8 (and synoptic parallels).
