This is why I still haven't completely abandoned the idea that we look at stories from the war. That's when stuff like that happened, according to Josephus.

Still, the story is one thing, history something else. At least some of the synoptic gospel story elements sound like they came from typical schools of thought of the tannaic tradition, like the often misrepresented Sabbath controversy.

I guess some kind of pastiche of all sorts of historical (in the sense of the times) and fictional accounts isn't unlikely.
