The short article has a serious historical error.
Hans Lippershey is credited with inventing the telescope not Galileo. But then again, it is from fake news CNN so there is a good chance it wasn't forgery after all.

Per Wikipedia, Hans Lippershey only gets credit for being the first to attempt getting a Patent on a Telescope (in 1608). And per Britannica, his Patent application was denied because several others came forward and claimed to be first. So the bottom line is that no one knows exactly who was first.

Galileo built his first telescope in 1609.

I know enough about history to know the telescope was a novelty toy until Galileo made his own and pointed it at the stars and made brief notes of his sightings. The next thing you will hear from fake news CNN is that the pope thought the earth was flat until Galileo invented the telescope.

Just like CNN said Hunter Biden's laptop is a Russian hoax.

By your logic, then, citing, Bart Ehrman's "Did Jesus Exist?" has no place on this forum because it also has factual errors which could easily have been corrected.

Not the first telescope ever, but the specific device with which he made the discovery mentioned. It is uncontroversial that Galileo remarkably improved an item in commerce, adapting it for practical application to both terrestial and astronomical observation.

Here is a cut & paste from fake news CNN.

Perhaps we can use this as a teachable moment to show how the mythicist mind works. They use a convoluted method that words mean what ever they want them to mean in order to turn the scriptures to mean anything they want. "Made" and "invented" are not the same words but they can mean the same thing depending on the need to make something true that is not. By extension the above mythicist method would illogically conclude: Galileo's death was considered one of his "many other achievements" that enabled him to discover the moons of Jupiter.


That is a good example of how fake news works. They trust liberals will automatically believe their fake story without question and when exposed by historians, the fake news people can count on their useful idiot fan base to give excuses for them. But the fake news people will never, ever admit they got it wrong. Therefore, Hunter's laptop did not exist. Even if it did exist it is Russian disinformation.

Amusing story: although I don't mistake a dictionary for something legislative, I do take it as a curated record of attestation. So I asked Google what is the definition of invent?

As an example of usage Google gave "he invented an improved form of the steam engine." Pix on request.

CNN's usage is good American English, and consistent with the undisputed facts of the case. Galileo invented an improved form of the telescope.

Yes, I think I got it now. Galileo in the same way invented the moons of Jupiter and improved the form of his death with his telescope, among other things.
